The rules are as follows:

  • Entries will accepted until 11:59pm (GMT) May 26th.
  • Each competition's voting will last for two weeks. The winner of that round will choose the next theme.
  • All entries must have been taken between within the last 6 months and preferably after the announcement of the theme.
  • Entries must be posted as a thumbnail no larger than 700px on the longest edge. Full sized images may be as larger as you'd like.*
  • You must submit only your own photographs, do not post anyone else's work.
  • Only one photograph per person, marked with Final Entry. You can change your entry, but must remove your current entry first and clearly state that you have posted a new entry.
  • You must not vote for your own photograph when the Poll is up. Only vote for a photograph taken by another entrant.
  • The photograph must be submitted with the following information: Subject, Date and Camera used and, if you'd like, the major camera settings - shutter speed, ISO, etc.

*While full sized images may be as larger as you'd like, you should try to limit them to approximately 1200px to enable viewing the entire image without scrolling. It's much easier to see the full effect of the shot when you can view it all at once and not have to pan.

Current theme: *cuePinkFloyd* Money

Good luck, everyone!

^ Shot with the Nifty Fifty, I assume? The exif tags didn't come through on flickr.

Shot specs:
ISO - 200
F/36
Exposure - 20 seconds
Focal length - 55mm + extension tubes
Flash - not fired, however additional side light provided courtesy of my RAZR

Question : I have an idea for this shot but it includes a rolled up bill and some sugar. Will you allow such a pic or is it against the AUP?

Edit : it's sugar I am gonna use the other is too expensive for a prop ;)

If you're creating a poster that DISCOURAGES the use of Drugs - why not? Use icing sugar.

Edit: I should add that counterfeiting is also heavily frowned upon in certain circles.

This theme should be a challenging one... Going to wait this one out this time though :D

Great entries so far. 👍
Niall, you might need to do some cleaning up near the red 10£ text, the desaturation screwed things up a bit.

And just wondering, is anyone else going to do something monopoly money-related? Just wondering whether I should try to hurry up and fix the shooting soon-ish or if I could procrastinate a bit more.

Hmm yeah you're right Jacob 👍 Think that I'm going to change my entry anyway, I've got a better shot

Play a card - any card. ;)

suzq044 - nice photo. Very tactile. I can feel the cold hardness of the metal, yet the softness of the rounded edges. Colors are worst on my TV, best on my Apple display. Thanks for joining the photodogs here - remember you can always change your Final Entry if you experiment more and come up with something you think is better to cash in on.

I'm not satisfied with what I have yet, so still nothing notewothy, but will surely change later.

My tv is what I use for my computer, but i do notice the difference between viewing it on my laptop versus viewing it on my TV or phone. I use my TV most of the time, because the PC is just easier to work with than the laptop.

I don't care for laptops myself; the output on my TV is the best - esp in Vivid Mode. However on the TV everything seems to be warmed-up; TB's quarters for instance look very red - a lot of warm tones in the picture. However if I switch to Cinema, I get more 'realism'. On my regular computer displays the quarters have much cooler tones. But, we have no control over the displays of those who vote; it is very much a subjective experience. Composition, creativity, technique and even editing skills all play a part in expressing one's photographic eye.

BTW - had a GT125 called SuzyQ, and my racing number is #44. Best of luck to you! ;) 👍

Isn't it illegal to drill holes in coins? Not that I really care, but I thought it was still considered damaging government property or something along those lines.

that almost looks like a bullet hole actually.

Also - suzq044, is exactly for that reason - suzq (because susan44 is kind of boring..) and 044 because suzq44 was taken on a site i visited alot back in the MSNchat days.. lol, so 044 instead. It's also my "racing number" whenever I am on GT or Forza.

I help my family manage an apartment building and as I was collecting the coins from the laundromat in the apartment complex, I found about 5 quarters with holes in them. They looked pretty cool so I kept them.

Will have something tomorrow, I think... beautiful weather out here this weekend and I have an idea in my head which I can hopefully execute :D

I've got no ideas yet as I assumed this would have closed by the time I got back from America.. but since I'll have this evening to try a few things I may enter.

I haven't managed to get a better shot, so the one I took before is now my final entry. I have edited the original post.
