The rules are as follows:

  • Entries will accepted until 11:59pm (GMT) Wednesday 18th July 11:58pm GMT
  • Each competition's voting will last for one week. The winner of that round will choose the next theme.
  • All entries must have been taken within the last 6 months and preferably after the announcement of the theme.
  • Entries must be posted as a thumbnail no larger than 700px on the longest edge. Full sized images may be as larger as you'd like.*
  • You must submit only your own photographs, do not post anyone else's work.
  • Only one photograph per person, marked with Final Entry. You can change your entry, but must remove your current entry first and clearly state that you have posted a new entry.
  • You must not vote for your own photograph when the Poll is up. Only vote for a photograph taken by another entrant.
  • The photograph must be submitted with the following information: Subject, Date and Camera used and, if you'd like, the major camera settings - shutter speed, ISO, etc.

*While full sized images may be as larger as you'd like, you should try to limit them to approximately 1200px to enable viewing the entire image without scrolling. It's much easier to see the full effect of the shot when you can view it all at once and not have to pan.

Current theme, chosen by Week #26 winner Sprite

Vertical and Horizontal - images with strong lines in either horizontal or vertical form or both.

Nice theme.

I'll use a photo I've just uploaded a few hours ago on flickr:

@Azuremen I'd say it does. You have captured vertical and horizontal lines that show this way in the photo. If the rest of the image contains lines that are not that's fine. If the whole shot had lines that were too far from vertical or horizontal I'd say I didn't.

Your shot fine and looks great.

I'm not sure if this counts, but here goes:

Well I found a pic to post then re-read the rules, I forgot about the 6 month rule....the only one I had that fit the theme was almost 4 years old :guilty: I haven't hardly touched my Camera this year, too busy at work and too tired when I get home.

Been having a tough time trying to get something for this week's comp, just something I don't have much of an eye for I suppose. Relative to the ground we have both horizontal lines and a vertical one.

Thanks. All this time I thought the theme required both vertical and horizontal lines present, just now realized it could be both or either/or. Oh well.

I wanted to do something with an old TV set, but I can't find one old enough and still working that has horizontal and vertical hold adjustments that I could tweak out of spec and tear the picture. :dopey:

Horizontal and vertical hold have been locked with phase-locked loops since the 70s, and not many 40-year-old sets are still lying around.

*sigh* Carry on.
