I'm planning on competing in this competition next year, and as such, figured I should do my research. I was a bit late (Traffic) and missed the opening segments, but I did get to see the Lightweight Novice division. That's the division I'll likely be competing in.

With any competition, it had the usual group. One or two guys that had no business being near the stage, and a handful that were simply shredded. I even threw in a pic of the girls.

One guy in particular had thighs that looked like they'd been carved with an EXACTO knife. His only problem, was he couldn't pose well and was always shaking when he flexed.

Anyways, without further delay... Here are some of the shot of the show. The small images link to higher res images.

Masters Division, the Girls, and then the guys I'llbe competing against.

Good luck Der Alta. At first I laughed really hard, but hey, if you wanna be the best in the competition, then by all means do it.

Glad I could bring some laughter into your world.

Its a goal I've wanted since I was a young kid, and lost track of it, when I cracked open a bottle. Have sine straightened that piece out and am back on track.

Had my first posing class two nights ago and am ever more pressed to obtain my goal.

Did you get a chance to talk with any of the contestants? What were some of the things the judges were looking for in particular? It seems some of the comps are almost click'ish in what certain characteristics they are emphasizing while judging, while other comps will be looking for something completely different.

Anyways, that competitions looks very intense....any comp would be intense. So what weight are you looking to be at pre comp and during comp?

I didn't get the chance to talk with any of the competitors. I only had time for the pre-judging. However, I do know where you're leading with that question.

There's an old saying "I know what I know, but I don't know what I don't know."

The Nutritionist that is guiding my diet has been a judge for this competition as well as a Guest Poser. If you youtube "Dave Finelli", his guest posing routine is the first hit.

As well, my training coach has done this competition before and taken a handful of First Place trophies. When he competed in April of this year, he took home the "Best Poser" trophy. Want to guess who's been coaching me on my posing? Had my first posing session last Wednesday at the end of my workout (and workout week) and it was brutal. By the end, I could feel nearly every muscle as he worked me through the Stage Entrance, standard "Relaxed" poses, 1/4 turns and Left & Right Side Chest poses.

I've got a long road to go, but everything is coming together. My lean Mass is slowly creeping up and I should pack on another 6-8lbs of solid muscle by next year, without adding any fat. When I start my diet at the end of July, I should be around 205-208lbs. When I step on Stage in mid october, I'll be between 170-175lbs. What's interesting, is that the weight slowly comes off, to the last few days. Then the last two days, when you strip the water out of your system, you drop 10-15lbs. The reverse is true, in that the few days after the comp, you gain 15-20 lbs right back.

I'll be posting some Progress pics hopefully this weekend to give an idea where I'm starting from.

My coach says that my weakest parts are my Deltoids followed by Tricpes and Biceps. So it looks like I'll have a tough time reaching over my head for the next 6 months.

Cool. Sounds like a lot of work, but something I'm envious of. From the guys/gals I've talked to, the last couple weeks before comp are the toughest. You are week from cutting back on your diet and water. You almost become sick, dizzy, nauseated, but are still expected to push as hard or harder in the gym when you don't feel good. I wish you the best of luck and look forward to seeing your progress.

Good luck with the competition. As you already know its a huge commitment and a lot of dedication.

Holy crap the guy on the right has some freekishly huge biceps for being in the light heavyweight division. Just like footballs about to explode out of his arm.

See the guy on the right? Yeah, he's gonna go home sad. :D

The Goals are still on track, and making gains every day. I just took a week off from the Gym and the Diet (last week) and It helped with the Sciatic nerve problem. I stuffed myself with food, from whatever I wanted. Spaghetti with Meatballs and Cheese. Pizza. All sorts of good stuff. I dropped two pounds, and see improvement in the mirror.

At this time, My Nutrionist says I'm on track for a good show in April. My Trainer also says I'm on Track for April. As long as I can keep the concentration and hit all my food and workout goals, my condition will be stage ready. My Trainer is also competing in the same event. He's shorter than me, but will weigh about the same. Which means I can hope for second place at best. ;)

Hopefully this weekend, I'll post up a few progress pics, as I have improved considerably since last time.

April will be the "Gain the Experience" trip to the stage. October will be FTW.

My competition diet Starts in January. My workouts will take the next big step in January as well. I'll be up to 6 days a week. Very Short, Very Intense. My trainer has said I'll be working out with him during that time. Nothing like holding both feet to the Fire.

I'll post up my diet and regiment when I get there.

Yesterday I was in my old office briefly, and they asked how my training was going. I showed them my forearm flex and jaws dropped. I've got Veins popping out and muscles definition that looks like aliens under my skin. :D

So, Personal Goal: BLNPA New England Natural, April 10, 2010. Center Stage, Hammer Down.
