Right now, all the user accounts on my computer have access to all the programs. I want to block my sister from using some of these programs entirely because she's gotten me a lot of viruses through them (Azureus, MSN, and IE). I tried lowering her access level from Admin to Restricted or whatever it's called (the one with limited functionality and access to programs), but the problem here is that it blocks her from using a lot of other programs on the computer as well.

Basically, I want to keep her off of these particular programs but still allow access to the others. I'd also like to set it up so she can't run any EXE's and screensaver files without my allowing them to be run. She's destroyed a lot of my data by accepting some crap from someone a few days back and damnit, i'm farkin sick of cleaning up my pc after she uses it.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Currently using Windows XP Pro.

Dude, you let your sister touch your pc? What were you thinking?

Nevermind that, anyway.
First off, go to your Control Panel, then to Administrative Tools, then to Computer Management. You should be able to disable internet usage from there, if not, ask Techtv.com.

Be nice and build a cheap-o computer for like $300 and let your worries be gone. Tell her that if she ****s her computer up that she's on her own.

no money to build myself a new pc. Ever since our old laptop crapped out, my parents forced me to make MY baby the family pc. I otherwise wouldn't have even dreamt of allowing her to come within a mile of it.

The prob is that whenever she fudges it up, it affects my own personal usage and on average, it'll take me anywhere from 3 hours to a week to clean up after her before I can get anything done on it

Why don't you go to the directory that contains the app you wish to block, then go to the Properties, Security. Remove "Everyone", and add only the user accounts that you wish to enable.

Right click on the file and click properties.

Select the security tab.

Click add and type in your sister's username.

Untick all the boxes and select deny on all boxes.

Et voila!!

If he's using WinXp Home i'm not sure if that option is available. On Pro I think you have to enable 'advanced file sharing' in the file options to get the security permissions up.

^^ The advanced file sharing thing is what I need to enable on my xp pro. I forget how to do that though. Either way, it won't matter for another 8 to 10 hours since my parents dragged me over to their office to clean up a massive hard drive failure :irked: worst bit is that the cpu fan is dead so until they give me the keys to the car, I can't do much about the pc

I hope you get paid for that stuff.
