Guys, you really got to try the todays daily race Grp. 4 on Lago Maggiore.
Normally i am not a big fan of tracks being used in reverse layout mode, but i just drove this 8 Lap race with the T300 RS wheel and i was just blown away.
You get a feeling of speed and corner combination that you would not get when driving the track in the normal layout, because these very fast sections now are downhill.
Starting from corner 3 if my counting is correct till corner 8 or 9 its just a blast, honestly. Feels like Suzuka on steroids.

I hate this track backwards. Honestly, whichever way I play a track first is how I like it and the other way I cant stand. One of my coworkers set up Dragon Tail 2 the first night we had the game and I was like "ok cool track" and it has taken me a long long time to get used to the correct direction

I'm learning all the tracks except Brands and Nurburgring...trundling around following the yellow brick road for me..

It’s a good track till last sector imo, that left-right-left-right feels so out of shape in that layout.
Yes. In the "normal" layout makes sense, first a medium speed left-right, then a low speed left-right. In reverse layout, the medium speed left-right is completely bland exiting the low speed one.

"II", "mirrored", "reversed" or however devs name it, doesn't cover the fact that it's a lazy ass way of increasing their track count for the back of the box. Since it's hardly new "evil" practice but common with arcade racing games (Ridge Racer, Wipeout, Need for Speed etc.), I don't blame PD. Doesn't change the fact though that it's a lazy technique on the developer's part. And it's not like they lack a deep roster of tracks to draw from.
Granted, there are some tracks in racing games that may have worked reversed, however, racing against the intended direction always leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I really don't understand why people have issues with them adding reversed tracks. Alsace and Dragon Trail are even better than original imho. It doesn't matter that it's lazy, it plays completely different.

Yamagiwa II is the one that I'm still ropey on. I've still not figured out the best approach for that fast curved downhill into the chicane. So much simpler the normal way round!

I also never get this "not meant to be" argument. Whats "meant to be" is what YOU think is fun. Then it does not matter if the universe intended it differently.

Lago Maggiore GP II is the one, if the not the best, of the fictional layouts for racing on, IMO.

For hot-lapping, sure, the forward version 'flows' better, but overtaking is more limited because of that.

It's an immensely cheap ass way of artificially boosting the track count.

Tracks are designed with a specific direction in mind and usually work best in that direction. I've only encountered one track in GT that works better the wrong way round and that was Autumn Ring Mini.

Also got to agree that I normally dislike reverse tracks but Maggiore II is an absolute blast when it all pieces together. I like the fact that it feels much faster because a lot of downhill and that you have fast entries to a sequence and slowing as they tighten up on you makes it harder to master i think. I also think that the end of the lap is better because after a full lap at high speed it takes restraint to thread through that final left right left right an onto the finish.

Cayman GT4 + Maggiore II and I could spend all day racing there.

I have not done this track in the reverse layout yet so today will be a big learning curve.

Is there anyone fast that does track guides on youtube? Similar to TRL Limitless' channel for F1 2017/16, which I used to check out a lot.

In the case of fictional tracks I agree with you, especially if the designers took reverse racing into account. In the case of real tracks, I strongly disagree. The track was designed to be raced a certain way and I do not like the idea of simply reversing it for the sake of having another track.

Then don't count them. I'm more than glad they're in game.

Since you HAVE to race on them to complete the game I DON'T have that choice. 👎👎👎

Complete what? Single player is completely optional and focus is on online. You can completely avoid reverse tracks since there are always few choices. Even in FIA races, if you skip reverse tracks, it counts top 3 scores anyway.

There are quite a few blind bends when running in reverse (Maggiore) makes it quite a bit harder. I enjoyed my Group 4 race just now. Although I am quite slow I only gained positions and had a dice for a couple of laps with a French racer in an NSX like mine until he overcoked it and I was away. managed to remain focussed and carm for the remain 5 laps and the gap continued to grow steadily.

Not for me it isn't. I only play single player. That's why I didn't buy this until it was a great deal cheaper than launch.

Only corner I don't like in the reverse Maggiore is the one that is usually turn 5 when it's the right way round. Just never feel like I got the right line through it no matter what line I take :irked:

I was not a fan of the idea of reverse tracks at first. I especially did not like the idea of them counting towards the track count ( I still don't). However, I really enjoy this track in reverse. I love the section from turn 3 to 9 as well. It is challenging yet rewarding. I also enjoy Dragon Trail in reverse and Alsace.

Absolutely adore this track. Beautifully done PD Bravo. Its a treat to drive in any car.

The last section is pretty challenging but if you get it right then its a cruise.

Awesome track.

I don’t really care if this is reverse or not, I don’t think this is a good layout. The corners are largely high speed, which don’t make for good overtaking places, followed by fast flowing chicanes... there is no good place to over take, even vs S ranked SR drivers it’s just a mess...

Maybe it’s just me, but people constantly put their noses up the inside of corners that either yeild massive crashes, someone giving up the corner or us both going so slowly that we both loose places to the cars behind...

Hardly crashed on this circuit. SR S doesn't matter but DR does.
