"blue screen of death"

First time experiencing this yesterday, but did two cup races just fine, bunch of friends on chat. Went and hosted a lobby for fun racing after all the seriousness and twice in an hour, I hit an error (with a blue screen), screen shot and sent to Sony to fix, then of course the room shuts down (private rooms fixed host? why?) Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing blue screens, is it game related or potentially console related, network related, etc. any input is appreciated.

Game errors are generally harmless and I've had one or two from GTS too. While it has a polished feel it is not without it's bugs. Also your online Lobby can be set either to close when you leave or transfer the host to someone else.

Had the same a few times now. It corrupted a save file too last time. Had to delete it. Fortunately it was just the settings.

I thought the same thing but apparently it's only for public rooms. Private rooms lock the host. I can open the option, but only the "yes" option appears. when I change it to Public, the "no" option returns.

I get the odd(once in a blue moon) blue screen but only from running an endurance race overnight.

I get it as well during long races

It's the game crashing nothing else nothing more it's what games do.

Happened to me yesterday as well. My game crashed just after qualifying for the nations cup race. I got 0 points for it and my SDR progress bar went down by half.

PD needs to acknowledge when you actually quit the room and when it's not your fault.

It's happening a lot. Almost every single FIA race has at least one person getting the blue screen.

hellZfirE lost out on points for a nations race and got a big hit on his DR, I think that's a pretty big deal if it's happening to people. I get that the game is crashing, but wouldn't you be at least annoyed? No one is getting hurt and no one is dying, I get that, but it can still cause frustration. I also understand that crashing is what games do, but happening twice in about an hour seems concerning so I asked.

Not sure if this is related or not, but yesterday during a daily race at Suzuka, the room started at 20 people and after warm ups, it was down to 9, 11 people got booted during the screen change.

Hey guys - I know this thread is a little dated but I am really struggling with blue screens as well. I’ve been dropped from at least 10 - 15 races due to blue screens. Most recently the FIA manufacturer race today. It’s keeping me out of DR S. Is anyone still experiencing this as well? I don’t keep my ps4 pro in rest mode, not sure what to do.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Not sure what you can do, I'm still getting them too. I have the original PS4 so it not model specific. It seems to be when the game has a connectivity issue, it then crashes more often than it gives an error code.

I have had error (CE-38700-8) a few times, googled it and it looks network related I've had it hot me 3 times in a row also, its painful some times.

Thanks for the reply’s. Glad to know I’m not the only one. After a hard restart I managed to get in quite a few races last night without issue. Hopefully they apply a fix for this soon.

Are you hard wired? I'd only race with a hard Ethernet connection if sport mode is important to you.

Definitely hard wired. Open NAT type with 1Gb/sec net speed. I’ve never had any connectivity issues on PSN before which is why it seems so odd to me.
