Hello,

how do you blur a picture when the picture is straight in front of a subject? I'm using this for GT4 picture, but it would work with any vanishing point? picture. All the blurs I use make the picture look wonky (like it's blurring in the wrong place).

I use Photoshop CS2 if that helps.

Thanks in advance,

SVX.

Can you post or link to a picture as an example of what you're trying to achieve? I'm struggling to see what you're aiming for exactly.

Is it that kind of picture when it looks like you're being pursued by a car at high speeds, with the car perfectly in focus facing you dead on, but everything else is "speed blurred"?

I used CS2 when I entered GT4 Photomode Comps and did a few of those back in the day. If it's that, it's pretty straightforward.

Yep, that's what I mean.

Here's the picture:

Thanks in advance.

It's easy then. HERE you'll find a nice tutorial by a fellow member - Revolution - on how to do it.

It's not for PS, but it's basically the same. Try it out, and feel free to ask if you have any doubts or get stuck at some point. 👍

Conversely, couldn't you get the same effect just doing an actual race and adjusting the shutter speed to an appropriate length? I can't remember all the control features in the GT camera mode though.

If I remember correctly, since I don't play GT4 for quite a while, it's not possible. I believe it blurs both the scenery and the car, or something like that. Or just the car... Can't remember.

Anyway, if you want this effect on GT4 to be well done - blur on the scenery and the car in perfect focus as if using a camera on a rig, it has to be achieved using PS (or similar).

Awesome, thank you!

Sorry for the double post.

Help, please.

I've struck a problem. Later in the tut, it shows it's a bit different to PS. My problem is that when the tut wants you to make the focus point, you can't in PS, you can only just blur (that, or I don't know were it is, which is likely).

Thanks,

SVX.

In the Radial Blur box, you tick Zoom, type in the value you want and then, to select the vanishing point, you have to click on the graph on the lower right and drag it around until the center of it is where you want it to be.
Click OK, and if it's not precisely placed, go back and adjust by the same method. Hope this helps. 👍
