Well, if I may comment for a moment, whats the point? We allready have the 3-series cabrio on the way, why would I want to spend nearly the same ammount of money on a car that is smaller and has an engine that is otherwise a joke?

I mean granted, the 1-series isn't an absolutely horrible car, as I think my opinion is slightly skewed given the lack of representation in the US. Givne the current exchange rates between the US and the majority of Europe, it would be insane to sell the car here, as the preview 130d Car and Driver tested cost more than a regular 325i sedan.

...But, this could be the 1-series that they have been saying will be comming to the US in whatever time frame BMW deems rational.

I have a feeling that the presence of the 1-series today is going to be a good idea in the long run. I'm assuming that a lot of the price of the car has been caused by development costs and such...once the 1-series establishes itself as a part of the BMW lineup, the price will (hopefully) go down, and then it'll be the awesome entry-level RWD car that BMW wants it to be.

Sepaking of that, wouldn't the coupe technically be the 2-series that we have been hearing ever so much about?
