Nothing too special here, but it has a turbocharged 3210cc Inline 6 engine boosting 249bhp and 380Nm of torque. Cars made after '83 had a 3430cc M30B35MAE engine with the same stats.

Facts: BMW M30B33LAE Inline 6, 3210cc with Turbocharger and Intercooler, 249bhp, 380Nm
Automatic transmission (not sure if it was the 3-speed or the 4-speed), RWD, 1590kg,0-60 7.8s, 222kph (138mph)

The South African 745i model had a de-tuned version of the M88 engine used in the BMW M1, it had more horse powr and was slightly mad...

.. I voted for this, but the SA 745i is the daddy. It was also raced...

Maybe, but the EU/US 745i was the only production car ever to be fitted with a turbocharged M30. And the B33LAE/B35MAE have more torque than the M88/3, and torque > hp. If the SA 745i had the M88/2, then yes, it would be king (M88/2= 3191cc Turbocharged, 850hp).

The M30 was a great engine, I've owned a couple of M30 powered Bimmers, an E28 with an M30B28 and an E24 with an M30B35, and it's a gem. Turbocharged however I'm sure it has a very different character, and though it was never really a screamer of an engine, the torque from the Turbocharged M10x engine is really low down, great for wafting along in effortless luxury in it's 7 series application, but since we're talking about taking it to the track in GT6 the M88 would still be my choice. It was good enough for the M5 and M635CSi afterall.

Also, because racecar..
