BMW M3 GTR Race Car

I did a search and nothing came up for this car. Just wondering who else likes this car? When I won it a while back, I thought it looked cool. Then I realised it was the one on the forums here. When I first drove it I was shocked. It handled magnificently! It doesn't understeer or oversteer. It is just perfect. It only has something like 473hp after an oil change, but it can hold it's own. It can beat cars like the Team Oreca Viper, Camaro, Corvette C5R, Ford GT race cars, etc. It's enough to get me 200 points per race.

That could be the result of two things. First, you could be driving mostly non-race cars, so the car would seem to handle well. Second, like touring cars, it could just handle well. I like to drive touring cars, and I think it is because their lowish power makes them slow in a straight line, but able to corner at a normal speed. Thus, the car feels like it handles like magic. That's my take on touring cars.

Oh, and about beating the Viper and C5R, the AI drives really slow. It really isn't hard. Beating cars like those like the Mclaren, Zonda, GT LM cars can be easily done in a touring car.

I happen to like this car. I really wanted to participate in the Japan GT Championship back when I was around 20% done in the game, but I didn't have any good race cars in my garage at the time. When I saw that this car could be won, I got a car and won it from one of the European League events.

The car actually did pretty good in the Japan GT Championship against all the others.

I think it drives rather sluggish for a Touring Car, the A4 touring car has so much better handling imo.

imho the M3 is better than the A4 in so many ways. One of the most noticeable is the handiling. The M3 must have been specifically built for the nurburgring cause with the default setup the car is perfect, but that is my honest opinion. and philly cheese is right on the AI driving slow.

Well, i only tested the M3 race car on the Paris day track, and there it can't take tight corners as well as the a4.

Actually, that BMW was the first good car that I got and I agree that it does handle very well. A lot like a touring car. It's one of my favorites.:)

Thanks in part to this thread, and in part to my previous experience with this little performer, I took my M3 GTR racer to the 'Ring for a couple of practice laps (bone-stock, R3's, MINOR suspension tweaks).

After duffing Bergwerk :ouch: and a portion near the end of the Karussel section, I still managed a rather gnarly 6:59.xxx. :indiff: However, on my 2nd lap I was able to nail Bergwerk and stay on the track for the rest of the lap, :) and managed to drop ~20 seconds off to a nice 6:38.xxx!

This car REALLY handles the 'Ring well. Thanks for the reminder, Syxx Killer.👍

Agreed, the A4 seems to handle tight tracks better than the M3, both it and the TT seem to blast around Opera Paris like they were on Test Course, but I 'spose the M3 could be set up to do just the same? The M3 does a lot better on more open tracks though, and with minor tuning its really quick:tup:

Hmm sounds like fun I think I have that car I'm not sure I think I might have sold it but if I do still have it I think that I will have to test it out, sounds promising :)

Yeah the A4 handles really well but despite being more powerful it is slower, both are great cars I have them both in the game. I favor the M3 more though because it is excellent and I am a die hard BMW fan.

the M3 GTR is a gr8 car, the first replay i ever saved was of it on the ring , great fun to drive and its so poised and responsive, i wish my 1963 Vette Race car could handle that good lol
