After almost 8 years since their last studio album, hiding away since the release of Trans Canada Highway in 2006, and teasing fans with mysterious records containing clues about their upcoming album during Record Store Day back in April, BoC have finally returned with Tomorrow's Harvest.

The only single track available right now is Reach for the Dead. The first few songs from the new album were also recorded during a planned listening party in the Mojave Desert a week ago, where they played the album in full to a small group a listeners.

So far I'm loving these new tracks, especially the single release which retains the unmistakable and eerie BoC sounds from past works.

The album itself isn't out until June 5th (in Japan). But in a few hours they will be streaming the album in its entirety online.

First time I've heard the new single. Sounds absolutely great.

I just recently switched back to my Boards of Canada CD in the car. Huh.

Reach for the Dead sounds great, looking forward to this!

Listened to the live album stream an hour ago and boy do the last few songs sound sweet. A number of them sounded like they came straight from the older albums, perhaps even as dark as Geogaddi at times. While a select few felt a little uncharacteristic as far as BoC go (one of which sounded more like one of Aphex Twin's analog tracks from the mid-90s), but sounded good nonetheless. The transition between a couple of tracks came as a slight shock and some of them aren't exactly memorable, but overall I liked it.

One thing I do like in particular is that some of the shorter vignettes are far more memorable and enjoyable than in previous albums, although they tend to be less brief this time around. Sundown being my favourite short.

I almost immediately loved a handful of tracks upon first hearing them, but it's definitely an album that requires a few playthroughs to really get into it. Now I have to wait a bit before hearing Come to Dust again. :indiff:

Funny - it was only on Sunday that I found out about BoC via pandora and got my hands on "The Campfire Headphase"!
