There was once a time when my Bob was young (<level 10) that I was quite proud of him pushing a blocker off the track.

Now I have four of them, the "best" at level 33, better than me. And I want to wring their ferkin necks!!! What a bunch of incompetent tossers!

I have tried goodness knows how many times to win Cote D'Azure in historical challenge.... way back in "Expert" series, and I just cannot ferkin do it.

I've tried all the advice offered on the big thread about this race.... and nothing works.

It always brings a tear to me eye as he slips from 7th to 10th, 11th or even 12th in the first seconds of the race.....

The best he has managed is 6th. Once he was up to 2nd, and then, for no reason, smacked into the last sharp right hander on the last lap. Why? No idea, it was the first crash of the race.

I've left him to race now with no "coach" whatsoever. I bet he'll come last.

This race must be a complete lottery.... or it's trying to force you to shell out 14M for a 2J.

So, what's the sentence for killing Bob?

The 2J is not necessary to win this race at all. I won this with a 330 P4. The main keys are to set a top speed of around 170 MPH and only overtake from the front straight to the Loews Hairpin.

Another key is to make sure you keep an eye on the starting grid. IF the 2J is in front of you on the grid, do not, I repeat, DO NOT run the race as there is a good chance the 2J will never be passed. If the 2J starts along side you or behind you, then you really have nothing to worry about that car 9 times out of 10 because there is no passing lane for the AI. The 2J will attempt passes at the wrong times and will stuff itself into the guardrail.

Thanks Blitz.... the lineup is new info (but did apply to A-Spec). Trouble is, I don't recall a single time there wasn't a 2J in front.... and I've done it lots'n'lots of times!

It actually happens once every 10 or so races that the 2J doesn't start in front of you. The 2J I believe cannot start higher than 5th or 6th (depending on if/where a Toyota 7 is on the grid in front of it) in order for you to win. I studied the starts of the cars when running this race and the 7 is terrible off the line so if you get a grid with the 2J right behind the 7 and they aren't too far ahead, use it to your advantage and hope your driver can get by the pinned 2J behind the 7.

Blitz may be right...but I used a fully modded Toyo 7 and pummeled the field...
I'm fairly sure you could win with any one of 5 or 6 cars:
Ford GT40 1969
Toyota 7
Chaparral 2J
Ford Mark IV
Jaguar XJ13
Ferrari 330 P4

But whichever car I have used, I needed the 2J to either start in a position where I could easily pass it, or have it hindered by the 7, or have it start lower than 4th. The 2J's driver makes risky moves when in traffic and has a tendency to crash.

Thanks all for the advice. I just got my best place ever.... 3rd, which has at least allowed me to finish the expert series (what a crap car for a reward!!).

I followed Blitzes' advice and dropped the transmission to a top speed of only 174.

I kept reloading (Zzzzzzz) until the 2J was starting 6th, in front of my Toyota 7.... which (as someone pointed out is crap off the line) dropped to 11th before the first bend (as usual).

I have never seen the 2J start behind me. It's often first on the grid.

Anyway, Bob clawed up the field to second.... then crashed on the last right hander on the last lap, again! Ended up 3rd behind the 2J and the 2D.... but never mind, the event is OVER!!

In my post in that topic, I won with a 2J starting from pole position.

How did you start at pole? I thought you were forced to start in the middle no matter what.

I miss being able to qualify for races to get a better position

My level 31 Bob was on a 2D and almost won the race, he was sniffing the fans of that @j for the last four laps, sometimes getting within a foot or two, but never quite being able to pass. The race ended all Chaparral on first four places: 2J, 2D, 2J, 2D.

What he was saying was he won and a 2J started on the pole.

I should add that its possible to win regardless of where the 2J starts as the 2J can make stupid mistakes even from pole. Its just more likely that you will win if the 2J is starting further back.

I was in the same situation, having trouble with the Toyota, when I read about putting a ballast on the rear tyres, then I won on my first try!

Look it up for the exact setting somewhere in the forum, I'm sure it'll work, my idiot was level 25 when I won.

i used the 2J race car with this set up
Transmission: Max Speed: 250KM/H - 155 MPH (or closest)
Suspension: Toe Angle Rear: 0,0
Everything else: Default

the other 2J race car on the track was right near the front, 3rd while my bob started in 10th or so, the other 2J was right up in front almost right away buy my bob caught up with him and once he over took the other 2J he won with about 10seconds ahead, i think my bob was class 40

Used a cool bob a 2D tuned engine but standard suspension settings etc except transmission tweaked to reach max speed at end of straight.A lot of coaching (you can't ignore this one) and also re load the game until the 2J's and toyota 7's are starting at the back of the pack as much as possible.

Used the 2J for this, just remember to keep nailing that pace down button through the tunnel or otherwise he'll hit the guard rail trying to overtake.
