Anybody would mind lending me their car so I can do this event? I'm low on money and I'd be very happy to save that 600K+. I can return the car or give it to another! Please pretty please!:)

I just see the ECU upgrade as adding electronic ignition in older vehicles myself. Could even be explained away by a FI conversion. More than doable.
Prefer carbs myself mind!

I actually enjoyed this race. It was nice to do something different that you wouldn't normally do in the game. I've only got endurances left to do so a weekly seasonal event gives the game a nice refresh, even if its old slow cars

So I upgraded my car almost to the max, I go to the race screen and hit "enter." I see that what I upgraded was the Kubelwagen NOT the Schwimmwagen. Yeah I'm passing this one.

This race was LOL worthy. If you fully lighten the Swimmer and brake hard down the hills, she does awesome front flips!

Even though I was more or less even on money earned/spent that race was nice to do.
XP was the real bonus though. :dopey:

I don't know why you peeps had to tune this car - I just did an oil change and added the areo kit. The rear downforce fixes everything! This was easier then the NASCAR on the ring: 1st place on my first try. Even spun on lap 3 and won by a large margin.

BTW I'm selling a bridge in NYC if your interested... Will trade for another VW car if it's as good as this one.

;)

I was not going to bother with this one, but it's starting to sound like some sort of 'rite of passage'. If there was more xp available, it would be a no brainer, but honestly, it seems more than a little masochistic.

Also, once you've spent 600+ on the car, why skimp on the upgrades?

It's fun. And it's a challenge, in a different sort of way. Instead of requiring split-second reflexes to thread turns half-a-second apart, you need to drive as smoothly and in as controlled a manner as possible.

69 actually and have been playing computer games since the Atari 800 in the early 70s. Played and finished GT1-4 and working on 5 and hope to still be playing when 6 comes out in 2020 or so.

👍 That's great hustle!

The "more realistic answer" can be found by changing to chase-cam and watching the weight transfer as you brake hard in a corner. True to its name, it sloshes around like a toddler in a bathtub.

The brakes do exactly what they are intended to do - stop the wheels. The fact that the wheels are not in contact with the ground does cause some minor handling issues, but certainly adds to the hilarity of the replays.

I thought the point of brakes was to stop the CAR, not just the WHEELS...

anyways, I enjoyed this race quite a bit. I agree that its a fresh change of pace from the split-second high speed cornering, its more like driving a kart that has been lifted a foot and a half off the ground. You have to drive it like a kart in the sense that acceleration and or braking while cornering is usually a no-no

Not in terms of money but you will gain some XP and save yourself some grinding I guess.

I don't see how you could have spent over half a million on the car and the few upgrades it needs to win this race... its really not that difficult at all. Tuning isnt really the issue, its how you drive the car. But a racing transmission, a turbo and some tires and you're set. thats about 100k in upgrades. plus the cost of the car...

I found this a fun race too. I tuned it to the max (about 115 or so bhp) and opened up the transmission to allow a top speed of 115mph.

Seeing that old rust-bucket hurtling round the ring at 100mph was really funny. And when you lose it on a corner when braking, wow! Excellent fun...

Still won though. Marvellous! Well done GT5!!!
