i noticed that in my mercedes sl65 amg (i think) the boost slowly looses preasure when i'm accelerating, howcome? and can i stop that?

ok some correct me if im wrong

basically, what happens in real life cars is that the engine/turbo can't hold the boost for extender periods of time (ie higher rpms) so you lose boost....you can't stop it =\...it would be nice if you could manually control boost in the game

Alpha is correct. Having a fixed size for exhaust/intake piping limits the efficient boost levels available. When there is an engine imbalance in flow (intake and exhaust are flowing at differing rates), you will lose the ability to maintain boost.

Basically, you reach max boost at a certain rpm, hold it, but as you approach redline it falls back off. If it really bothers you, just shift before redline, but even though you are losing boost pressure, the car's maximum power is still at higher RPMs.

i've tried to shift right when boost drops (on my cars that can't hold it) and it seems like it doesn't accllerate as fast as if i just went all the way to the redline

Go into cockpit mode and accelerate with boost you will hear when it isn't being effective and know when to lets off. also if you are boosting you will notice it takes a little bit longer to shift under boost time your boost after theshift and before you will notice a difference for sure.

uh, isn't the SL65 SUPERCHARGED, not turbocharged?

the supercharger used by mercedes, and aftermarket one that can be installed in the game, is a roots style supercharger (sits in place of the intake manifold). These superchargers produce a lot of boost at low RPM, and the power gain drops off at higher RPM.

Its unfortunate that you can't get a centrifigual supercharger. Basically, at 0 RPM you have 0 Boost, and the more you rev it, the higher the boost gets :) Very fun in some cars, like the S2000 :) (in real life that is)

superchargers make good power in the lower half of the rev range but become inefficent at higher rpms. turbos build power later but the wastegate bleeds off some boost at higher rpm to keep turbine from going mach.

Wow....Just like any other supercharger! (Considering the car isn't running at 0 rpm  )

generally, a roots-style Supercharger builds up boost quickly, but the power starts to drop off at high RPM.

Yer, because just because boost is beginning to drop doesnt mean that Torque and HP are. Also, when you shift earlier, you genreally speaking have less boost than if you'd waited. (In the next gear, may not always be the case though)

The SL 65 is a twin turbo V12: "
Much of the credit for the AMG 6.0-litre V12 engine's extraordinary performance must go to the biturbo system, which features larger turbochargers and powerful water-type charge-air cooling."

And from the Benz site:
"MSRP $182,820.00*
Engine AMG-built twin-turbocharged 6.0L SOHC 36-valve V-12 engine
Net Power 604 hp @ 5500 rpm
Net Torque 738 lb-ft @ 2,000 - 4,000 rpm"

that and M-B doesn't use roots style superchargers, you might want to do a bit of research... they are twin screw type superchargers that M-B uses, quite different from a roots style blower

OMG, read my post SL 65 is bi-TURBO

I drive an SL65 as my main car in this game. it is one of the baddest cars in this game when properly set up. it is a torque monster when punching it out of turns (i don't think it ever falls out of the powerband). BTW it sounds best with the sports exhaust. as for it loosing pressure, it realy doesn't effect its pulling power in my experience.
