BOP Seems A Little Off And Personally Its Pointless!!!

Just wondering if im the only one seeing this or im mental......

One thing that is becoming more apparent the more i race in the daily races is that to me BOP is well off the mark across the vehicles available.
Take todays daily GR4 race. It became a Megane & Scirroco fest as the two vehicles seem to have a massive advantage against all other vehicles available I was using the Huracan GR4 and to cut a long story short i went backwards in every race and no matter how much i tried the 2 examples given appear to be running on rails and everyone seemed to be jumping on the bandwagon for the Megane and Scirroco. I thought the BOP was there to make all things equal. Todays race is not the only time ive noticed this but it was more than ever apparent in todays GR4 race. It may aswell been just a one make race.

Personally would it not be better to put the onus on the ability to tune a race car by allowing these settings to be adjusted as i cant see the point of even including this ability in the game, as to be honest outside of the lobbies its just wasted programming and wasted effort even having it on the screen. Surely if GT Sport is to be a driving simulator it needs to take the handcuffs off and allow all aspects of racing to be available. Bin the BOP races and have one make races to cover this and have daily races where people can look to use the cars settings to improve their cars, and race times etc.

Moan over any thoughts....

Gr.4 BoP has been unbalanced since release. The tweaks PD made didn't solve it all. Especially for the Megane and Scirocco. The Cayman, for example is really slow even compared to a big car like the Mazda Atenza.

Yep, the Megane especially was always way quicker than most but at least it's handling was bad. Then the update improved the handling and it became dominant. Hopefully it'll be rebalanced soon.

Just came third in an M4 in todays race. I think the M4 is bop'd a little extra weight, but that's not the reason why I couldn't catch the guys in front - lack of grip on corner exit was the problem. I was able to catch or keep pace with most cars except for out of the slow bends, the TT in front of me was about the same pace, I think a Megane won. I've noticed that my first race of the day normally has about 6-7 FWD hatches at the front, but subsequent races are much more varied.

I guess what I'm saying is that I don't think it's pointless. I personally wouldn't bother with any races if tuning was involved, and I'd only attempt one make races if it was a car I liked and knew I could handle reasonably well... doing away with Bop races would suck from my point of view, they just need to tweak it a little...

... and even if they do get the bop a little fairer, people need to accept that some cars suit different tracks, and maybe the best drivers will still be the quicker

Yes it would be bad to get rid of BOP races but they need to make it actually balanced. Yes also you are always going to get the guys that are aliens and run phenomenal times, but would it be more interesting to add the tunning aspect to further the experience and just perhaps rein some of the fast cars and drivers in a little

Where have you been?

This.

As far as I've seen, they were a bit unbalanced before, and then they made BoP adjustments which kinda knocked them down to normal popularity/unbroken levels, then shortly after, the 1.06 patch came with the tire physics change and threw BoP out the window for FF cars. And for some insane reason, they haven't done an emergency maintenance to nerf those cars a little bit. Just until the next major patch where everything gets rebalanced. Instead, FF cars are just running amok and completely ruining Gr4 dailies. Thankfully, the upper group of people I run with in FIA races didn't all flock to Renault because they've got a little integrity, so the FIA races are still pretty fun with a normal field of vehicles.

I hate myself though so I tried the Kyoto daily today using my Mclaren. I signed with them and I like to use dailies for practice in the cars. I slaved away on getting a qualifying time just inside or outside the top 10, jumped into a race and was placed 4th, behind a bunch of FF cars, proceeded to get walked past by the Renault that started behind me right off the green, and then spent the entire rest of the race desperately chasing the FF cars trying to hold onto 6th. I kept getting close to 5th, even partially passing him once or twice, but then he could just drive away on any sort of straight or corner exit.

Its absurd. I shared the replay with the tags #broken #op and #fixplz if you're bored and curious. Titled "Exercise in Futility"

Different cars suited to different tracks only works if there are different kinds of tracks. There are no Tsukubas or Cote D'Azurs or Magiones in this game where certain cars might shine on a shorter, tighter circuits in this game. All the tracks seem to be power tracks with long, flat out sections and high speed corners that often require no braking. And if putting the power down on exit is the issue, shorter tighter tracks won't help either.

If you don't want to use the Megane or Scirocco, I recommend the Audi TT. Personally I would use the Megane even if it wasn't quite so good, so I don't mind it's overpoweredness.

Exactly this, plus when the type of track a certain type of car dominates at is any track with a straight then it's a problem.

This is the gist of the problem right here, the arguments the FF are only better on straights and that is somehow balanced don't hold water because it makes them impossible to overtake - right now it's like they have DRS and the rest of us don't (actually better than DRS since they don't have to be behind someone to activate it like in F1). You can't even stay on their rear bumper to try and pressure them into mistakes because they pull away from you when you're in their slipstream, and they can easily recover from minor mistakes if there's a straight after the corner.

They need to break Gr4 up I think, split it to touring cars and gt4 as separate classes. While they're at it they can add more touring cars. Focus is already in the game, wouldn't take much to give us a focus touring car. Maybe a Merc A class, BMW 1 series. Could be good. Might as well just give us DTM while they're at lol, heck there only is 3 cars in dtm anyway! Just get it done PD

Gr.4 used to be my go to for racing, since I love the Gr. 4 458 Italia, and have a blast in it. But with the FF dominance, it just isn't fun anymore.

I've gone to Gr. 3, where at least it isn't dominated by one make in every single race.

There are some dominant cars in gr4 , but you have to know how to drive them. You can put a thumbless monkey in the magane and they will still win.

Do you know if they are likely to release the Monaco track?

I just got blown away in the gr4 race by a load of megans and sciroccos. All DR C so generally not terrible drivers, but -

The entity in 1st place was in a megan - I watched the replay after - the couple of laps where I was watching the winner (hoping to pick up some pointers on how to do the chicane..) they were driving rubbish! It wasn't one of those replays where the driver obviously has bad internet and they're jigging about - the car was properly off the road all by him/herself, crashing into barriers etc two or three times each lap, hitting the rev limiter constantly, missing every braking point, no concept of the racing line - it was like someone had let their cat have a go. I'd say their driving should have been costing at least 15 or 20 seconds a lap. (I'm being very generous here!)

And yet they still won by a huge margin???

So after that, I tried the megan, and after a couple of laps I was a second or so faster than in the Ferrari that I'd practiced in for maybe 10 laps (I feel like I need to go and have a shower after admitting that) But the winning megan in that race was all over the place and still finished 30 odd seconds ahead of me.

- so I think there's something else going on here! Maybe i need to try turning on all the driver aids and see what that brings...

On a more positive note - I am generally loving GT sport - and the online in particular. most Gr.3 races are good, and the single make stuff is good too even if they are vvvveeerrrryyy ssssslllllooooowwwww.

As annoying as it is to get punted from behind by some 12 year old, I still prefer it to the AI from the first 6 versions of the game.

Go back to your replay and start the race, and then pause it, set the view to show all race data on screen and then scan through all the cars from first to the last, the "drivers aid" lights will be on and tell you which cars are using which aids. I was really surprised at how many racers are using CSA and ASM in the online races, seems those racers that use these can run off in the grass or brush a barrier and lose little if any pace compared to going into the grass with no aids on.
