Hi all,
I have a mercedes-benz maclaren SLR

It has all drive train, suspenstion, body, and racing soft tyre mods fitted.

Its fully lightened and has only mild power tuning, just over 700BHP

I got the car set up so it drives real nice, but when in cockpit mode and caining round a corner, the car 'bounces' around it?

Is this a sign of to stiff springs or what?

im confused 💡

Got both spring rates at 17 which is pretty high I guess....?

I see your a fellow norfolk'er!!!

Im a Thetfordian!

Thanks for all the pointers guys, am readjusting as we speak!

Would you mind posting your tune please? There don't seem to be many tunes for the SLR

This is my current tune, generally very good handling, a little understeery and very bouncy but works, like I say im currently working on it 👍

All mods fitted, I mean ALL, everything you can buy in tuning shop, and racin soft tyres fitted

LSD settings:
Initial- 15
accel- 20
brake- 30

Suspension:
ride height- -25/-25
spring- 14.5/12.5
dampers 6/5
ARB- 2/2

Camber- 0.5/0.5
toe- 0.05/0.25

Ok this works well:

LSD settings:
Initial- 15
accel- 20
brake- 30

Suspension:
ride height- -25/-25
spring- 14.5/12.5
dampers 4/3
ARB- 2/2

Camber- 1.5/1.5
toe- 0.10/0.30

I don't have an SLR to test your tune, but I know that in the real world a "bouncy" ride is usually caused by two things:

a) Insufficient damping. This means your shocks are too soft for your springs, which causes car to sort of bobble around whenever you hit a bump.

b) Insufficient suspension travel. This means your car is too low, so that when you hit a bump your suspension crashes into the bumpstops instead of functioning as it should.

Increase your ride height by 5mm to 20/20(25mm is way to low you have no travel so the car is bottoming out and bouncing over the bumps rather than absorbing them).

I also noticed you said the car is still a bit tail happy, to counter this i would personally decrease the rear spring rate to around 10.5-11.0 and also stiffen up the rear shocks extension and soften up the rear shocks compression, in doing this the rear of the car will dip more under acceleration putting the weight over the rear wheels giving better traction(remember suspension is all about weight shifting and putting the weight where you want it under certain conditions). You have not given the setting you are using for the suspension in regards to compression and extension so i cant advise any better.

But give these small adjusts i have mentioned a go, you will notice a vast improvement by just making these few small changes.

good luck ;-)

Thanks for the tips fellas, I will try those pointers out today!

Its a little tail happy but then I put that down to it having over 800BHP lol

Oh by the way I modded it completely, I couldnt help myself, I love power! lol
