Hi guys, i've ordered me a DFGT, my first steeringwheel (still waiting for it to arrive), and I have a few questions about placing a sponge underneath the brake pedal:

1. Is it recommended to use a sponge right away?

2. What kind of sponge is best for this purpose?

3. Do you need to secure the sponge with something?

Thanks in advance.

I have done the sponge trick with my DFGT pedals as I wanted less play before the brake pedal started to grab. I used a normal kitchen cleaning sponge cut in half lengthways, and didn't secure it. It does need correcting sometimes as the sponge slides sometimes but I didn't want to glue it in there in case I ever had to send it away under warranty. I have often thought about getting a harder, firmer sponge but I like it the way it is. :) Cougar23

As this is your first wheel, try it without the sponge and see how that feels/works for you.

I myself don't use a sponge and I have a friend that has removed the spring inside for easier brake movement. Go figure.
I think it comes down to personal preference.

Enjoy your wheel as it really changes the racing experience.

Here is a good thread that explains the change from the controller to a wheel.

Yeah as 01GTP has said, it is all down to personal preference. I too would recommend trying without the sponge first, which is what I did, Then put the sponge in if you feel like you need it. Have fun with your DFGT (I know you will...I do. :) ) Cougar23

Thanks guys. I will test without a sponge first.

And thanks for the link, can't wait for my steering wheel to arrive. :)
