Bringing back the Magazine Cover Comp

After looking in the PhotoMode Hall of Fame I got the idea to try and bring back the Magazine Cover Comp. To me it looked like a lot of fun and it would probably be good practice for some of us.

So what do you think, yes, no, maybe so. Tell your thoughts here.

I'd be all for it, but it would have to be a 2week contest, since it's time consuming and there are a lot of comps running at the moment.

It is Beerzy, took me a min to think how the questions should be worded.

And I agree about it being 2 weeks long.

It worked well when I ran it but interest declined after we started running out of ideas. But hey feel free to give it another go.

I wouldn't believe it will keep the interest going for a long time
but what about run it for 5 bi-weekly comps? and we make it looks like a seasonal thing
also a trial week will not a bad idea before give it a go

Yes I want this comp back, awhile ago I was looking through the sort of things they do, put it this way I'm ashamed that I wasn't around when it was on...

Well why not. I mean it will be fun and interesting enough to enter. But i don't know if the interest would be there and i agree with franz on this, maybe we should have a trial first and see how people are going to react to this....

We should try this. And this is such an interesting comp that IMO it would not even need that many participants to be a succes. And definately two week rounds.

Well so far we have everyone voting yes they want it back.

I like Franz's idea of having it be sorta like a seasonal thing, so we don't run out of ideas and whatnot. How do y'all feel about this.

Two week long comps are a must.

After we figure out how long we're going to run it; either seasonally or just a steady comp. We need to get someone to run it. Since Joey ran it last time I don't see why he couldn't do it again.

I agree. If Joey hosted it before and wants to run it still, it's only fair the he does it.

As far as seasoning the comp, I also couldn't agree more. I was thinking maybe something like 5/10 comps (2 weeks each), and the next batch would only start 3 months or more after last comp, less than that might kill it entering phase 2.

Yeah, I'd love to enter this thing. I always was amazed with those old crazy chops, but I don't have too much time and too much ideas to enter a bunch of comps week by week. So I've to be agree with Franz and Joey too, surely they knows well what to do because they are the grandpa of Photo GTP

Ok on second thought after looking at my calender I noticed it was the 15th which would make it a great starting point for a bi-weekly competition. I think I pretty much have everything drafted up. I'll start off with a trial to see how it goes and then we can start the actually series.

Even though I don’t know how to do Magazines Covers, chopping cars from GT4, it looks interesting and I (or anybody else who never enter) can learn much with this. I agree with the two week format or even season format. One week is not enough to work in one Magazine Cover, and there are still other competitions and the real life to cope with.

So, wouldn't you guys think it would be a great idea to have this competition but in teams? By saying "teams" I mean different GTP'ers forming a group, about 8 in each group, eh? They make a name for the Magazine, each group has its different name. Each group realeses(sp?) an "issue" bi-weekly.

8 people working online on the same 2-week project, on different time zones and all the rest would be nearly impossible to do. Even 4 would be a stretch...

In theory it sounds like a great idea, but as Beerzy has said, some issues are bound to pop up. It may work with just 2 people though.
