Day 9 and 10 are very graphic. Your discretion is advised if you choose to view.

The last pic is what the spider looks like. I did not post any of these as thumbnails due to the graphic nature of some of them. I was stupid enough to look at pics 9 and 10 and I wish I never did. :yuck:
I do not know how true these pics are. This was sent to me via e-mail from a good friend.

I thought this would be a good thing to post as it is summertime and people are going to be digging around doing yard work, etc. The following illustrates the progression of a brown recluse spider bite. Please be careful, spider bites are dangerous and can have permanent and highly negative consequences.

FYI - They like the darkness and tend to live in storage
sheds or attics or other areas that might not be frequented by people
or light. If you have a need to be
in your attic, go up there and turn on a light and leave it on for
about 30 minutes before you go in to do
your work.

Day 3

Day 4

Day 5

Day 6

Final warning! These are extremely graphic and very disturbing!!
Day 9

Day 10

I will not reply in here to this thread. I am too disgusted to see this again.

That wasn't disgusting. (I never find things like that disgusting, it's normal)
Actaully, I was glad to see how it looks like inside your thumb :) :dunce:

Nice, not disgusting at all, you get used to watching this... I actually spent dozens of hours with dead human bodies, cutting them into pieces, taking away the skin etc, it really becomes daily business after a very shot time... Camaroboy69... practice a little bit with pages like rotten. com ...

I've been on pages like rotten.com before, and I'm not horrified by the images there normally. But that was disgusting! I think what makes it so horrifying for me is that someone is actually living with that.

Cool. Gangrene.

He'd be lucky if he didn't lose that hand.

Hmm. Even cooler:

The bite of the brown recluse spider can result in a painful, deep wound that takes a long time to heal. Fatalities are extremely rare, but bites are most dangerous to young children, the elderly, and those in poor physical condition. When there is a severe reaction to the bite, the site can erupt into a "volcano lesion" (a hole in the flesh due to damaged, gangrenous tissue). The open wound may range from the size of an adult's thumbnail to the span of a hand. The dead tissue gradually sloughs away, exposing underlying tissues. The sunken, ulcerating sore may heal slowly up to 6 to 8 weeks. Full recovery may take several months and scarring may remain.

Reminds me of the pictures of guinea worms we saw in geography class today. Very graphic yet are teacher really wanted us to see.

They are worms that burrow though flesh by eating there way round! (mostly in Africa though)

Cool. Gangrene.

Hmm. Even cooler:

gangrene? more like necrosis.....

same kinda thing though, i guess. that's odd though...hasn't that guy heard of anti-venom?

I'd guess by that point the venom had long since done it's work, otherwise the victim would have certainly got some by then. It would be interesting to hear about how exactly the bite progresses from a small mark to, well, a gigantic hole on one's hand. As long as there are no graphic pictures of course!

10 days is more than enough time to get anti-venom. you shouldn't even go an hour without being rushed to the ER for some.

that, or he DID actually take it (thus, why he is still alive), but still had to deal with the wound.

anyway, that wound looks like it's from infection more than anything. i don't think they did a good job of nursing it. i wonder how many blood clots the dude got.....he HAD to have at least one.

I hope you're joking PS. An av like that would probably piss off some of the mods. And completely freak some members out.

Holy Moly. That's a serious bite right there.

I'm so glad the UK doesn't have spiders like that.

Crap on a stick! And I thought living with Black Widows was horrible!

Well, it is, but that seems pretty bad, too.

Man I would stomp the hell out of that thing so hard it wouldn't be anything left except a nice little pile of big-ass-spider-juice.

Woah! Thats gross. Now I'm affraid to go out side, Australia is infested with poisoness animals
