Has anyone got any ideas for budget cars, for example, a car that is about Cr.20,000 and for tuning it you budget about Cr.30,000?

I have been doing a few, and keeping record on them. I just need a few more ideas. (Money is no problem for me on the game, so any idea will be considered).

Or if people could share some of their favourite budget cars of their own, with the money they set out to spend, and what car and parts you got for that money.

I might post a few of mine later in this thread if there are any replies.

well i have a budget corrola that i use for drifting, supercharged, weightless, n2 tyres, its cheap and mighty fun.

But for normal racing, look in the 80's or early 90's showrooms, something like an oldskool supra or celica GT4.

Depends on how badly you want the performance. Cheapest 2nd hand, most powerful for the money would be the 60000km Z28 Camaro. Pick it up + oil change for under 8500cr. You can spend 20k on engine alone to get around 350hp + flywheel & S3 tyres. Add a wing & Stage 1 weight reduction and you'll have a car that does low 13's/high 12's on the 1/4. An R32 GTR or early FD RX7 are also bargains as is the Ver.IV STi, 10k for a 60k km version.

For a new car, the Spec C Impreza STi is unbeatable. Around 40000cr. for the car, add 5k for nitrous, add a racing exhaust, flywheel, Stage 1 weight, a wing & oil change and you get a 370hp weapon that gets into the Mid 12's and even better and sub 1'00's at Tsukuba. :)

For a cheap FWD bomber when tires are unrestricted, I find that the 1995 Honda Integra Type R works wonderously.

Sports suspension, R2 tires, stage 1 turbo, and stage 1 weight reduction. Possibly a chip.

30k. Outperformed most of the FWDs in Tuner Challenge Version 2 due to the tire advantage.

I've heard lots of praise for S13 Silvias in this department as well. Oddly, RJ's garage has the Integra he mentioned and the S13 I mentioned modified in much the same way.

I never actually payed much attention to the price, but the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IV is lovely. I have payed attention to the price of the Honda City Turbo II, and I'm astonished that there's any performance at all for that sub-$4K pricetag. Finally, 1989 Skyline GT-Rs and practically any Nissan Z is a good thing to come by.

Yes, I have both a 1995 ITR and a 1988 S13 K's, both modified in much the same vein, but they're not cheap.

Far from it, really, and the later DC2s would be a better choice most likely due to wider tires.

Ah, yeah... The 1985 RX-7 is quite nice bang-for-the-buck. Sub-6k, and quite good stock performance.

to be honest, they cost a bit, but an evo, tommi makinnen is incredible bang for buck, ive taken out eveything from spoon s2000's to cobra r svt mustangs....

I did this yesterday, with Diablo'. We had a budget of 30k, no more over. We also had a hp limit so we wouldn't buy some car which was overpowered. We also did another try for 60k but ended up not spending that much. Yes it's fairly fun too.

Yes, some of the Silvias are amazing. I've gotn one of the '88 versions (can't remember which) and it's awesome. You won't need anywhere near 30k to make a good car out of it.

The Lancer Evo 92 is another seriously cheap car, but I tend to find I spend a lot more on the suspension for that model to correct the understeer, at the expence of power mods if you're on a budget.

EVO V and VI. Can be tuned very effectively with little cash outlay.
However, if you don't do the full race trans (fully 1/3 of tuning budget) you can't realize the full potential of the car.

I've done this many many times, and far and away the best bang for the buck in the game is the used Camaro Z28 Mafs mentioned above. The handling is decent, and it is absolutely the easiest thing to get big power out of. And the cheapest one is purple!

Here's my $20070 Challenge Z28:

Another consistent winner is the 1997 MR2 GT-s. That thing can be made quick for not a lot of money.

As far as FF cars go, the Mit. Eclipse GT is a pretty good car for the money. In the Used Car lot 1 they go for between 7,469 to 10,710. (18,206 for a 6.2m/10k special.)

I know that its a good car to start out with. It can beat its drivetrain race series right out of th used car lot.

I'm sure with a 50,000 over all budget you could build a pretty mean machine out of one.

I have to agree with the Z28 for FR cars. Although the early Skylines in the historical lot are up there too.

4wd with out a doubt are the Lancers. I prefer the Evo-2 personally.

As far as MR - The '92 NSX-R is definately worth every credit.

the eclipse is rather awesome.

And the lancers are weapons, once youve got an oil change.

But i see no reason why nobody has mentioned the oldschool corrola GT4's from the 80's showroom.

The Subaru IMPREZA Premium Sport Coupe 22B-STi Version (GC) 1998 can be bought by a new player and can probably enter and win more of the various types of GT4 races than any other car, so take a look at it, too.

Cheers,

MasterGT

The 1989 Skyline R32 GT-R is fairly good too, IIRC you can find them for around 20k. They perform nearly as well as the later model R32s, and R33s. They haven't got that much of an understeer problem, and can be fairly powerful with just a few mods.

Yeah theyre good, but these days they are the obvious choice.

And when i raced in the red emblem race in my 82 GTR i overtook everyone, including R34's! All i had was an oil change and some decent wheels!

I think its alot lighter, im not so sure.

There are dozens of answers to this thread. Literally hundreds...not just those mentioned so far, but all the "sleepers" we forget about. That's why I haven't commented in this thread yet...I'd have to make a list of all of them. :nervous:

It's not like in GT3 where the obvious answers were: Miata, PT Cruiser, Trueno/Corolla, and just about any Honda other than an NSX. :sly:

I have been thinking about this thread . . .

Do you mean budget as in spend less, and get more. (Bang for the buck)

Or Budget as in, buy any car and spend what you can in upgrades and be able to use that car to more than make what you invested into it by racing in multiple events in various race events. (Most versatile investment.)

My first car and a good budget one was the RX-7 infini III with oil change original turbo (from tuner village) racing exhaust stage 2 weight reduction a lot of tuning and a carbon drive shaft. These upgrades were done after much racing of course but she ran like a champ.

The '92Lancer can be found for under 10k.It has some under steer but if you have 20-30k you can fix that. Also Imprezas and Legacys can be found under 15k.

It actually has a lot of understeer. I finally got rid of most of it after buying a VCD and giving it a 90% rear bias. What about you? How did you get rid of it? I'm curious.

I made post#9 in the thread, which is virtually identical to the one above. I can't remember exactly what I did, but it gave me a hell of a headache. I avoided the VCD solution 'cause I just love the feel of an AWD, so it was mainly brakes and springs. I'll try and get the time today or tomorrow to check my settings and report back

I lowered the ride height and tightenend the suspension, for some reason it was gone like that *clicks fingers*

And an oil change, but apart from them, nothing.

How did you get the paint job???

When I lowered it and tightened the suspension, it got even worse.:ouch: I just ended up buying a VCD controll and I'm still fiddling with the suspension.

I love to build budget car's. but you have to find balance in them. I have a few in my garage. I find them fun to drive and put many miles on them:tup:
