Buick GNX Making Return? Signs Point to Yes

Well, I also fear that they would do that too, but I honestly don't think it'll happen. If Buick gets a New GNX, it'll most likely be a better performing version of the Regal GS. I bet it will have a Twin Turbo V6 and on a 4WD drivetrain too.
 
I wonder if GM will use the new Alpha platform. That would be an interesting move.

Yup. What were this year's "signs"? Full moon or did they gut a chicken?

And if one "calls something out" in the US does that mean announcing it or proving it false? (It's a reference in OP's article).

Its been an ongoing thing since the Pontiac G8 showed up what feels like a decade ago. Its gone from a full-size sedan, to a hard top convertible coupe, to a regular coupe, back to a sedan, and then both a sedan and coupe. Sizes have varied wildly, from a big Zeta sized model down to something ATS sized, based on the Alpha. Engine options have almost universally been turbo V6s, though. So, that's nice.

They've got two problems that they'd have to solve, first:

1. Which size of the Alpha chassis do they use?
2. Coupe or sedan?
3. Which version of the 3.6T do they use? Or do they cook up their own tune?
4. Do they put an emphasis on comfort or performance?

Because, honestly, GM has a lot on their plate in light of a GN with the ATS-V, CTS V-Sport, Camaro, and SS Sedan. Fitting both a GN and possibly a GNX in the mix, let alone Buick's already premium/luxury/quiet/blah blah blah offerings could be difficult. Would I love it? Absolutely. They should do it. But, man, I totally would understand if they didn't.

The 2016 Cadillac ATS-V has a 3.6L twin turbo V6 with 450+hp and 440+ ft/lb of torque. This is assuming you're talking about GM in general and not just Buick.

Yeah, I think it's the Regal GS. As I said before though, I don't feel the need to complain for there not being a Regal Grand National or GNX due to that and the other performance cars GM has.

Well, we've already got the 255 BHP Regal GS that's available with AWD. Its decently quick, but, not nearly the sport-luxury competitor that it should have been. With the right powertrain it would be a much more interesting car, but, I'm not sure what that configuration of the Epsilon chassis can take, let alone that Saab-designed AWD system. It needs a V6 with a turbo if it wants to be more than what it is now, and, I don't really think GM will be willing to make that kind of design option available.
 
I feel like the GNX's successor would be put on either of GM's Zeta or Alpha platform, with a refined variant of the LF3 (3.6 L Turbocharged V6) engine from the XTS.
 
I believe the Zeta chassis will be out in 2017, left to the variations of Alpha that are already available. A lot of it will probably depend on what ends up happening with the Chevy SS and PPV, as there will need to be a replacement for the Commodore/Caprice, but the jury is out on what exactly GM plans to do. I doubt it'd be a full-size car like the SS, but making it ATS-sized possibly steps on the toes of the ATS-V. But, with a 30+ BHP deficit at that size, it'd depend on how the power gets put down... And even then, how big the Camaro is, let alone which engine options it'll get, will likely determine whether or not it'll happen.

My biggest fear is they slap a turbo onto some modern FWD Buick and call it a GNX...Thoughts?

Considering what we've seen GM do performance wise lately to old names and new...why would you think this? I mean it's not like Ford who took what everyone had found memories about with the SHO and then destroyed. Then again I like the AWD layout better.

@RandomCarGuy17 put it best, why bring in a GNX? For the old guys that still have their original GNX or GN?
