Assuming there is something along the lines of race modding cars in GT5, there should be the abillity to take a chasis and build your own race around it. To keep it all manufactuer safe they would have to be from the same parent company. It would be awesome though to create my dream GM or dream BMW. Many combinations possible but would allow the race cars to feel a lot more personalized than just this is MY GT500 supra with my graphics. With that said I'd like to know what other people would see as their "dream" combo for racing? M3 Chasis with a M5 Engine? Chevy Cobalt with a LS7? Just somethings I thought would be entertaining. I was always sad that I never did the hybrids in GT3.

Hudson Hornet with wide-angle Twin Cam head and Twin Turbo. 5.0L I-6 that eats Beemers, RBs, and JZs for breakfast.

But yeah, we've discuessed this before.

I'm very much keen on the ida of being able to construct your own race cars, be it by ripping a production cars guts out and re-building it with racing parts or building a purpose built racer or a silhoutte racer. I think that would be awesome if you could buy different sized carbon tubs that fit different powertrains and drive trains and you could build a sihoutte car around that tub. Think about it, a 2006 Ford Mustang sihouette, it would look like a Mustang race car, but underneath it would be thoroughbred race car all the way. Much like the NISMO GT-R's and 350Z's that compete in the Super GT.

Great idea! I believe Automodlista actually did just this (kind of a strange, celshaded driving game). But, I am doubtful we will see it in GT5.

How about a TVR 12 engine in a Caterham? WOOOOHOOOOO!

I think that kind of thing could cet a bit out of hand. Crazy combos like that. Unless they made it so certain chassis could only do so much. I think on this forum, we have many many crazy ideas that may only take shape many many years from now, on a game we have yet to see on a system not even thought of yet.

That is a interesting idea, but too bad it won't happen. PD just isn't that cool. :D

I would love to put a 5.4 L "Cammer" engine into a Crown Vic LX Sport, Full weight reduction, 6 speed tranny, 16 inch American Racing Torq-Thrust II wheels, AND dual free-flow exhaust... <---- Keller Motorsports Victoria Sport. :sly:

Also, I'd like to be able to name the car...:D

EDIT: On that note, what happened to that thread where you could make your own car make...

Just thinking of all the possible cool combos is making me giddy:
-'62 Pontiac Tempest with a Solstice GXP engine and driveline
-VW Rabbit pickup with AWD and a V10 TDI in the bed ()
-An '87 Buick Skyhawk Sportshatch with a mid-mounted GNX motor and AWD for a stupid-fast all-Buick Group B "what if"
-A Stage 3 weight reduction Suzuki Cappucino with a Hyabusa engine and trans ()
-A Lexus V8 powered AE86
-A Viper-engined pro-touring '85 Dodge Diplomat
-A carbon fiber body and tubbed Audi Q7 V12 TDI unlimited-class hillclimb racer
-A tube-framed, fat-tired BMW 850CSi silhouette racer
-A 1st gen "dustbuster" Olds Silhouette minivan with a mid-mounted, Aerotech-specification turbocharged Quad 4 to give the Supervan 3 and Espace F1 fits
Almost certainly won't happen in GT6, let alone GT5, but ya never know...

Id rather have a sleeper like a Supra powered AE86 or something. Maybe PD should put in some engine swap mode too. Great idea 3spddrft 👍

A Speed 12 powered Catheram isn't possible, not with any regulalrly sized Caterham anyway. The engine is just too big, not only that, but if you could fit it in (and you can't) the torque would probably warp the Caterham's chassis like it's made of tissue. For you to be able to fit an engine into another engine bay you firly need to make sure that the enigne and ytransmission can actually fit, then you have to way they're both mounted, they have to be able to connect together and then be able to connect to the driven wheels. Idea like an AJP12 powered Caterham, while interesting are too extreme, it's just not possible. And if it was, it'd bend the car anyway.

AWD Dodge Stealth with V10 power, that would be awesome. On the topic of silouhette type race cars. I would love to see a King Cobra with the underworkings of a Cosworth Escort.

One of the problems I see with having so much customization is that it will place extra emphasis on having the car sound right or handle exactly how you built it to be. Unlike the current GT where slight suspension changes are barely noticable. A lot of the changes that I would make in real life that would turn my car into a very tight street machine would do little to improve the handling of a car in GT. If I'm remembering correctly, I haven't had a PS2 to use for quite sometime. It's been mostly Forza for me.
