Buy GT5P now (cheap) and upgrade? Or wait?

Now that GT5P is so cheap, is it worth picking it up and buying an upgrade to the full GT5 when it comes out? Or should I still wait and get GT5 in the future. I mean I've waited this long.... :)

I doubt there'll be an upgrade, my advice would be buy GT5p now while it's cheap and buy GT5 as soon as it comes out, sometime around christmas by the looks of things

Gran Turismo Concept, when completed, unlocked a GT3 gamesave with 5,000,000 credits and all licences completed. Hopefully the same will happen with GT5P.

Get the GT5 Prologue now while it's cheap, that way you will get good practice for when the full game comes out.

Makes no sense entering this type of competitive enviroment as a novice, you would definitely get punked up & be left feeling depressed to the point of quitting.

So there you have it, get the GT5 P now & get in some good laps.

Until next time, we will be looking out for you.....Peace.

i never understood why so many people passed up op prologue, the gap between seasoned prologue players and new GT5 players is gonna be very hard to close.

Oh - I assumed that there would be some kind of discount (not just trade in value etc). If not, I'll wait for the full game - I don't see the point of paying for the "same game" twice. I'm not a huge online racer so bridging the gap to seasoned GT5P drivers isn't an issue.

Thanks all!

That's it, just think as Prologue as a totally separate game to GT5, you won't be able to upgrade from GT5:P to GT5.

Even if you don't play online GT5:Prologue is still worth buying just to get used to the updated physics. They may be tweaked again slightly for GT5, but they'll be similar. It is quite a jump from GT4 physics to GT5:P so it will take a while to get used to them if you are coming straight from GT4 to GT5.

I would get it, you dont know when GT5 is coming out and Prologue is cheap nowadays.
Tbh, i dont understand why you not already own it.

I would get it now.
Familiarize yourself with the different cars handling, acceleration, braking. This way (like others have said) you will be ready for the full game.It will also give you a taste of the online adventures - some are good :) , some are not so good :ouch: , but either way, look at it as a nice warmup session for the full game.

dumb question, i know

when points acquired or new car purchased downloads, it goes onto the hard drive of my ps3, and if i were to put in a different gt5 game (same game just different disc) would any info be lost?

It was worth it full price over a year ago, its worth it still today at a cheaper price - why didn't you buy it earlier?

The only thing you need to look out for is that save data for the DISC VERSION is not recognised by the DOWNLOADABLE VERSION of GT5P.

Two totally different sets of game save data. WILL NOT SYNC, EVER !!!

So be prepared to drive for the individual versions to accumulate your cash, trophies & cars........

Definitely get GT5p. Like Bdos8 said, no sense in entering GT5 as a novice if you can get GT5p for cheap now. If you do stick with GT4 though, you do have one advantage to us GT5p players. You can perfect your lines on tracks we dont have like the Nurburgring.

I was gonna make a new thread about whether Prologue is worth buying now (end of November 2009) for people like me who are just now buying a PS3 ... but with all respect to the OP I think I'll piggyback on this one. :)

My $0.02 - if you are planning on racing online, then I would pick up a copy of GT5P. If not, and you haven't bought it yet, I would wait.

My plan is just to wait until March / April, which is only 4-5 months away. I don't want to buy GT5P now and then by March I'm sick of it, and won't want to play the full version. Or feel like I've spoiled dinner (GT5) because I filled up on chips and salsa (GT5P) ha.

I really do not think it's possible to be a member of a Gran Turismo forum and be bored of GT5P in a matter of 4 or 5 months. It is above all else a superb game, thoroughly enjoyable (especially with a wheel) and there are still organised events running all the time. Just last weekend some of the best GTP drivers like Timppaq, Hugo Boss and Timeattack were packing out grids in the 512BB race at Suzuka. A full grid of GTP-only drivers is never ever going to get old :D

Go for it, buy GT5P and watch the time between now and GT5 simply disappear 👍

All the best
Maz

If you join the right events and race with a good bunch of guys there's no chance in hell you will get bored. 1 and a half years later and i still cannot wait to fire up the machine and play GT5P 👍

Surely worth it to buy now. My mate only now got the ps3 & gt5p and is enjoying it endlessly. 👍 It just makes you ready for GT5, it won't make you filled up before GT5, quite the opposite. You just learn how to use the knife & fork before the dinner is served. You don't wan't to spoil the meal by not knowing what to do. It works just as a good appetizer should work, only makes you more hungry ;)

I had my chips and salsa months ago, enjoyed every morsel, and have absolutely no regrets at all about it potentially spoiling dinner. I used to have that attitude, but then realised that it's rather pathetic to not enjoy something now just because of what might be in the future. It's been so long now since I played it anyway that GT5 will be like a whole new game. With the launch not too far off hopefully, I probably would leave it now and just get GT5, but as others have said, there is no reason to not get it really. As ever, it what YOU want that matters (figuratively speaking). This is kinda' like going onto a PS3 forum and asking for advice on buying an Xbox 360 (or vice versa)...what kind of answers do you expect?! ;)

If you have the spare cash and you are interested in racing games, it is a good game, But there are other games on the market that offer much more than Prologue. It might be best to stick with those until GT5 is released, particularly if you are not a big fan of the GT series.

@ stodge: you answered it yourself with saying that it is quit cheap at the moment...so go ahead and buy it, brother! you won't regret it i promise!
