I do drive "respectfully" and adhere to racing "etiquette".

I don't see any problems when it comes to that "department".

Looking forward to adding a few of you to my friendslist and somehow find out where the wurks race room is "hidden" :indiff:

I'll send a friendrequest to both Gadget334 and KurtKrDu soonish and hopefully you'll accept it.

// Lav

Kurt is at a wedding this weekend so won't be online, but yes send a FR to me and then just go to 'Community' select my name from your Friends, and then join my lounge and you should go straight to where I am. You need to ask Kurt to add you to the Friends list for the official WURKS lounge for the future. I'll probably run tonight in the Crap Racing Enduro lounge, but just follow me to be safe

Stay at your lounge Gadget. Only members can join enduro room ince it's not a public room

Cheers Knuk.

My place it is then:)

PS
FR from Lavandel recieved and accepted. Also recieved and accepted one from 'Play117', a WURKs 24hr teamate of Lavandel. Amazing if everyone shows up. I can only imagine what its going to be like doing 13 laps of the Ring in mixed conditions with an almost full grid. Can't wait!

When do you expect to be done with the race?

I wouldn't mind if everyone gets on asap and start earlier so I get to work in time  Not sure if I have to work yet. Looking forward to do at least 3-4 laps if I do

I've been publicising the 2130 start time all week so can't change it, but, if everyone shows up on time for free practise at 2100 GMT, and there is an agreement within the room to start a bit early, then we can do.

Hallo all!

I've followed the thread som time, and like to get in the race asswell.
It's looks like a really fun race.
Are there any spot available for me?
I have done lots of lapps on the Ring and know it pretty well.
Thanks.

~Play~

Yes mate, there are still a few spots left (JUST!) so you are in. Please follow me into my Lounge at 2100GMT, which is about 35 mins from NOW. I already accepted your Friends Request so you should see me.

I'm back in now guys. Weather isn't suitable for jet flying. :( :)

Excellent news Dave. So happy that you have 5h1te weather there to keep you from flying. Good to have the reigning Champion back to defend his crown. I plan to serve up some similarly awful weather for you to play in at the Ring :)

So, according to my calculations, we have the following due to race tonight.

Me (Gadget334)
i-was-ere
Atik_Ali
G3TH_D
Cobani
Knukken (confirmed but may need to depart after 4 laps)
TDZDave
Davidb_165 (now confirmed)
MichoRexo
Overkiller-63 (Maybe)
WIDFO
Lavendel
Play117
ejiffimro

14 cars! Wow.....gonna be busy out there.

Room Etiquette:-
Comms / Texting fine during Free practise, but during the Qually Race and actual Race, please do not message as it's very distracting. Please also switch OFF comms for the race. I will use comms only in the event of a major incident like an early disconnect or anything that would require red flagging the race.

If any other members join to spectate and not race, please do likewise and respect radio/comms silence.

See you all in 25 mins!!

Sorry I couldn't complete the race. I got disconnected which was a bit disappointing. I was just about to pass widfo too who may have been carrying damage.

Congrats to the winner whoever that turns out to be. I am expecting it will be tdz as he had a 2 minute lead when I stopped watching.

My race wasn't as hoped. I started on intermediates given the weather changeability was set to 10, but it stayed fully wet for at least the first 5 laps. I underestimated the lack of grip on the cold tyres and gave up the lead before the end of the gp course.

On lap 4 I took some damage so made a pit and took on enough fuel to finish the race and wet tyres.

The change to wets and the darkness where helping me catch up, but then I got disconnected so that was that.

Hope everyone else had a good time. :)

I knew you put a Maori voodoo curse on me , I had around 2.45 gap on second place, I binned it on the 12th lap between the first 2 chicanes of the Nordshleife circuit... around the same time you wrote this on the tread , lost 2 minutes getting back to the pits, then I didn't watch what tires the computer put on the car, racing medium's I believe at 53% surface water,
ended up losing to the Swedish gent PlayXXX by 12 seconds, never gave up so good work and well done to him,

after a quick check of the replay the first 10 laps excluding pit stop laps and the start lap were all between 9.30.480 and 9.30.650,

I must say guy's I have never been in such an eventful first lap, I don't believe I would have done what I did without being somewhat courteous, lifting off etc, I was dead last at the start of the race, and then in the bunker at the hairpin on the GP circuit,

I honestly didn't think I was anywhere near that mark during testing, and I knew there were section's I was stronger then cobani, but really only where I could see down the road ahead of him, but then there were area's I was stronger, my biggest strength of the track is the GP circuit, and the last 2 sector's of the nordshleife circuit, and in those sectors cobani seemed somewhat nervous but on line and me feeling a lttle more comfortable but ran off line but not off track gave him a little lead going on to the back stretch, but as I was close enough to not see I lifted off and was surprised when I caught him going into the last esses, so I figured I will have a go at leading going onto the lead straight, I thought he would have kept me in check, but history was written differently,

I honestly think the result would have been hugely different if Kev/ Knukken stayed for the race,

Same again with more rain next week please

I was just cruising, no where the limit, just like a Sunday drive and the car snapped sideways under braking, fairly sure there will be some embarrassing pictures and video's,

But that was sensational racing,

🤬 My internet was out all day today due to nobody but myself... Next time guys. I really want to show off the ZR1 tune. :)

I also made a hash of the first lap taking a trip across the grass while still on the GP circuit and dropped to the back of the pack so was pretty pleased to manage to make my way up to 3rd at the end.

Glad everyone enjoyed it. Hopefully most can do again next week?

PS I'm not around the next few days to write this up or post pics

your ZR1 tune is stupid fast, like the car, glad to see someone attempting wet condition's in the non DLC car,

Finished last and I can only blame one thing: myself for not having experience in rain.

The hard rain hit me really hard even though I actually put myself in the lead for almost half the 1st lap.
When I spinned off the track I had to wait for any runner-ups to pass because I didn't want to get in the middle of the road and cause any accidents that early in the game.

Kudos to my buddy Play117 who didn't give up and somehow manage to pass TDZ for the win.

Looking forward to racing with you guys again (after some serious wet-racing-training).

I had great fun gentlemen.

It was nice to lead the race with a faster Dave behind me.
I realy did not want to mess up, so I was a bit carefull in certain sectors.
Dave got me and I kept on going in second and was very happy the way things were going. Only losing 6 to 10 second a lap on Dave was very acceptable to me.

The rain and darkness made some sections very scary and I tried to keep a marging of error. Slowly the tiredness caught up with me and after the only pitstop I made silly mistakes and still had a good little battle with Play.

I tried not to interfear with others when damaged and got out of the way of any real fights. The race went away from that point trying to keep my eyes open :odd: with a low point when I opted to go to RM's with a more then 50% wet track. :ouch:

Did have a lot of fun and I wanted to do better, but I'll be back for sure as driving with these conditions and this group of drivers makes heavy damage endurance very enjoyable! 👍

Cheers

@Lavandel, You guy's held decent pace, I was a little confused to what happened when you spun, you had a decent pace happening, same with cobani following you, someone is going to have some nice pic's up of the confusion on the first lap, specially when you spun with play, and Cobani checked up and I very nearly cleaned him up,

same with cobani, great pace for lap 1, I honestly thought I was only a fraction faster and expected you to check out with me,

But that entire race was all trial for me, I've only done around 7 laps prior to this event, 5 in 5 different car's and 2 consecutive laps in the GTR, and I had only run the GTR laps in the dark,

ADVICE FOR RUNNING IN THE RAIN
This regards all tracks, particular to enduro event's,
I find area's of the track to work on, yes it is faster to attack everywhere but not always best, as you can spin off, everyone has their favourite section, maybe 3 or 4 sector's your always comfortable in, plan to attack it, My favourite section of the track is from the carousel all the way to the end, I was useless at it before joining these events so I spent many hours just driving from the entrance of the carousel to the back straight then driving backwards around the track (alone in private lounge) until I learned where I could push on it, as I think its the most important section of the circuit to get right on the last lap, and now I know it I know exactly where I can push, where to have caution and where I can seriously 🤬 up,

Its always better to follow a car outside of the spray, you will see better, specially in the dark of night, if you struggle to see lift off the throttle when the gear indicator comes up, you'll get sucked along by the draft and be able to keep the leading driver in check,
9 out of every 10 times the driver in front of you is as uncomfortable is you are in the conditions, it pays to be more cautious then the driver in front of you, if they spin and your on their back you will hit them, and if its dark and they go to hard into a corner you will follow them,

If you saved the replay go for a ride along on my car for the entirety of the first lap right up to where I passed Cobani, you will see where I re think my attack on the track (hairpin ) and that there probably isn't any major differences between yourself and me, just that I punched out the exact same lap time lap after lap, I have gone faster in those condition's by almost 20 second's a lap but I chose not too, its just safer,

In all honesty these are the basic enduro racing guideline's, specially at the ring,
the basic's being,
Watch your space,
Respect other's space,
wait for a better place to overtake (I waited from the other side of Arenburg until the start finish straight to overtake cobani)
Just not made so simple

The other way you could look at it is that I'm no where as fast in dry weather as most of you, I just don't drop off or panic like you guy's do, I just take it as it comes,

NEXT TIME I'M GOING TO MAKE SURE THE CPU PIT CREW PUTS THE CORRECT TIRE'S ON!

Thanks Dave/ Lav for your comments and tips from Dave.

One other tip I would add. Know where your headlight main beam/dip button is. I have mine set as one of the wheel buttons on my G25. I found that when running with full beam close behind a car at night with spray all you see is a wall of white. Dip your lights and the view improves quite a bit. It's the same as driving with lights dipped in heavy fog in your road car

You can count on us "harassing" you on the upcoming 4hr sessions :sly:

Personally I really need training under wet conditions. I think I can handle night-driving rather well but wet conditions is something I haven't had time to train for (yet) :odd:

I was very impressed by the courtesy of drivers in the race especially Lavandel who was cross-ways on the edge of the track as I approached and he sat there hard on the brakes, not moving an inch until I got by. I haven't seen that kind of sportsmanship in a long time. Also to Cobani who purposely held his car way off the track surface way over on the grass as I went by on the downhill at the end of the long straight. Much better than some of the previous races. I actually ended up forth I think, through no fault of my own :)

as was I, but you need to be otherwise it just becomes another dirty nurb room, I was impressed to see the mix of result's,

Thanks for those kind words, ANFD. Warms my soul when someone notices the "small" things in the world.

From one thing to another...
I know Bobd wasn't in the last race organized by Gadget334 but I would really like a recap of the race in some way.

Anyone able to put one together? No need for pictures but it sure helps.

RACE RECAP

Track conditions at start, 90% surface water, weather getting worse,

QUALIFYING Gadget tries an unusual new form for qualifying, confuses some people, Knukken takes pole by miles while the rest of the field scramble for position,
Pole eventually given to Davidb due to Knuk's departure,

Qualifying order for race

Davidb,
Lavandel,
Play117,
I-was-ere,
WIDFO,
Gadget334,
Cobani,
Ejiff_Emro,
TDZdave,
ANFD,

RACE Knukkens departure and some issues with I-was's connection left the field a little scrambled, This takes a while to sort out,

Davidb Leads the field through the esses and takes the green, with the windscreen wiper's on fast and head lights ablaze for the whole field

Ejiff goes straight on at the first turn before the race start, forgetting to change from slicks to wets,

Davidb loses his advantage of Pole position by running wide at turn 3 intermediate tires were to blame, WIDFO follows him through the gravel, Lavandel takes the lead,

I-was goes off at the hairpin, Davidb and TDZdave follow him through the gravel, leaving them in 6th, 7th and 9th, Ejiff still struggles on slicks,

Gatget tries a new line exiting the chicane, replay shows its not fast and he rethinks his strategy,

Running order leading into the Nord section, Lavandel shadowed by his countryman Play, small gap back to Cobani, who has a few car lengths on WIDFO and TDZdave, Davidb, ANFD, Gadget and I-was are left scrambling while Ejiff gently tries to fight his way through the condition's,

Gadget hits the Nordschleife pit wall taking damage and becoming the first victim of the Nurburgring's nasty side, I-was also has damage, unknown as to how it was attained,

WIDFO runs wide at the high speed exit of Hocheichen, giving TDZdave the scare of his life, but gets away unharmed, rejoins almost right behind TDZdave,

I-was-ere has a huge moment on the lead up to Aremburg at over 250KPH sending him into the gravel, gets away without more damage,

PLAY117 Spins on the exit of Ex-Muhle and takes damage, causing Cobani, TDZdave and WIDFO to take evasive action, PLAY does the right thing and waits for the majority of the field to come through before rejoining the action in 8th place 👍 to PLAY,

running order through Klosteral,
Lavandel looking at home in front with a handy gap over Cobani with TDZdave right behind him, WIDFO 3 car lengths behind, another gap to Davidb hanging on quite well on the intermediate tire though its not recommended in these extreme condition's and ANFD keeping him in check, With a large gap back to Gadget, PLAY and I-was who are together in limp mode,

Lavandel spins on the exit of hohe acht, gap evaporates and Cobani takes extreme caution coming up to Lavandel and jumps on the brakes hard, TDZdave nearly runs into the back of him, Lavandel rejoins 8th after waiting for the whole field to go through to rejoin safely, 👍 another good decision made by another Swede, well done,

I-Was gives the high speed right hander coming up to the carousel hairpin a nice clout and takes more damage,

WIDFO runs a little wide for comfort in the lead up to the Carousel, followed by almost missing the groove in the Carousel, costing him time to TDZdave who is almost wearing Cobani as a Jacket,

Lavandel gives a wall a hard lick unsighted,

TDZdave misses the groove in Schwalbenschwanz, WIDFO runs wider but both still keep it on the tar,

Tiergarten, Cobani pulls a few car length's over TDZdave, with a bigger gap back to WIDFO in 3rd, who has gapped Davidb on intermediates and gapped ANFD, Gadget and PLAY lead the damaged cars, while I-was and Lavandel's cars struggle back to the pits leaving Ejiff begging for mercy,

Final corner, Cobani is hesitant on attacking it, catching TDZdave by surprise, TDZdave then goes into attack mode and gives Cobani a Bump down the start straight, Cobani not looking to fight or take damage gives up first position,

ANFD loses control in the final corner complex, taking heavy damage, he leads the damaged cars to pit at the end of the lap, PLAY and Gadget continue around with their minor damage

Davidb is feeling brave and continues around for another lap on intermediates,

WIDFO drops a wheel into the gravel at turn 4, recovers from the minor incident,

TDZdave rounds the hairpin as Cobani runs wide allowing WIDFO to catch up as I-was and Lavandel enter the pits, and Ejiff still pleading for mercy rounds the carousel,

I-was and Lavandel exit the pits after being serviced for damage as TDZdave leads the field into the Nodschleife section once again,

Gadget remains persistent onhis new line through the chicane, only loses time,

Aremburg, TDZdave holds a 5 second lead over Cobani, 2 seconds back is Widfo and 3 seconds behind him is Davidb, PLAY maintains a 6 second gap behind David and has dropped Gadget, while ANFD and I-was try to regain tome lost in the pits and Lavandel takes more damage unsighted on the GP circuit,

I-was takes more heavy damage in the Hoheichen complex, will lose a heap of time limping back to the pits,

Carousel, TDZ maintains a 7 second lead over Cobani, another 7 seconds back to WIDFO, 5 second gap over Davidb, with PLAY reeling him in, Gadget may be regreting not pitting as ANFD pulls him in at a radical rate of knots, I-was and Lavandel are in limp mode as finally at 17m.27s into the race Ejiff gets to the pits and applies the correct shoes on the car,

PLAY has a big moment on the exit of Brunnchen, almost collects Davidb, manages to recover without further damage,

Which brings us to the end of lap 3, I'm tired, I will add more tomorrow,:)
This replay looks amazing, and when you see it from my perspective it doesn't look as bad as you thought, like PLAY's spin, I honestly thought 3 cars were involved in it, but he did it himself, the rain plays games with your head,

Cheers Dave. The replay does look good. I took a few photos from it last night and hope to post before the weekend, but loving your written overview.

Can't wait for this weekends practise. By the way, who is likely to be there? I know two for sure:-

Gadget334
I-was-ere
