I would like to confirm my entry in the 4HR. Race on 16th.

I am trying to figure out a way to compete in the 24 Hr event the following weekend but it is a long shot. The closest online racing buddy I have that I would deem to be competent enough to run with this group lives 110 miles away in Tennessee (I live in Georgia). That isn't the problem however. I just took him to the Atlanta airport on Friday so that he could compete in a Vintage Motorcycle race at Phillips Island next weekend (He got a personal tour of Sydney in a Holden Commodore with another online racing buddy of his) .... ain't this a wonderful community :) He normally works weekends and since he had to take 2 weeks off work to go to Australia, I'm not sure he can get the additional time off to run the 24 Hr. He'll be back on the 1st, so I will run it by him then and let you know.

Also ... will there be another practice race this weekend ?

On an unrelated note ..... I'm getting a new camcorder this week and will be eager to try it out, so more than likely I'll be making a You Tube video if we have a race this weekend :)

I hope you can swing it. Would be great to have another friendly face in the 24hr lineup.

Yes, there will be another 13 lapper at the Ring same time this weekend. Are you in?

Yes ... I am most certainly in as I am eager to try out my new camera.

I normally just record the TV screen from across the room. It's not the best way and I have discovered a strange phenomena that keeps me from making as many videos as I used to. When I had a 60Hz LCD (older technology) I used to get a pretty decent picture but after upgrading to a 120Hz LED screen, the camera picks up a frequency that the eye can't see and it creates an unstable image with interference. The new camera has a completely different lens and processor so I'm curious to see if it will compensate somehow :dopey:

For anyone not on my FR, the channel is found at .....

Seems wierd.

I recently heard of this little box: http://www.hauppauge.com/site/products/data_hdpvr2-gaming.html

Might be something to consider?

From what I understand you can actually use it to stream video but not record and stream simultaneously.

// Lav.

I have considered this little $200 item for some time but haven't been able to convince my Chief Financial Officer of it's neccessity :) Considering that I just got a new Thrustmaster T500 for Christmas and a new $1100 camcorder, I doubt she'd be willing to spring for one :) Also, there is a link to my travel channel from the racing channel ... that's my primary focus now. I just ordered a remote control electric motor panning head for the GoPro I have mounted on the roof of our truck :)

I'm keeping it in the back of my mind for another opportunity though :)

NOTE: I just noticed that you can get it on Amazon now for $160 ... not bad actually :)

Is there not a way to save/use the gameplay replay video from within FT5 and then output or concert to a format that would stream on a website?

God to have u in for Saturday. I will start to publicise this more when back home Thursday night

I vaguely recall that being something that was originally expected to be available before the game released but something that just never made it into the final build 💡

I know capturing race replays with a video camera is very primitive, but it's something I've been doing for more than 6 years and I'm just used to it I guess. :)

I have a question about the revolution meter.

On the last replay I noticed that the red line starts at different spots on the GTRs. On my car it starts just on the left side edge of the number 8, but on others (don't recall just now) it starts more to the right, inside the number 8.

Do anyone know why? And does it make any difference to the performance?

@Rosen

Peak power and torque will vary as you tune your engine. There are a number of ways to achieve 394nhp including different TiVo types and different stages of engine tune. This would account for variations in the engines 'red line' on the tachometer

Gadget, huge thanks for your help running things in my absence mate 👍

I am back now and am up and running and will be opening a room Sunday morning ACDST (the same time as normal) so please confirm your attendance by sending me a PSN message.

Please note that qualifying will revert back to the original format of 1 out lap and 1 hot lap.

Cheers all.

Damn autocorrect

Should have been "different turbo types"

Thanks for the answer. 👍

It seems like I have some studying to do about power and torque curves. :)

HP, suggest if u are using your original qually format, that you set weather to be stable for those two lap otherwise (depending on wether track is drying or getting worse) either the first or last runner gets an advantage or handicap. You can reset weather to changeable for the actual race

That's easily done in the setting's,

It would be good to have another team with ANFD,

Good idea but real life racing is done without weather manipulation so we will run as is to ensure the most realistic racing experience for everyone 👍

I couldn't agree more 👍👍 Personally, I also don't care for the artificial rolling starts just to avoid the reality of the challenge going into Turn 1 as they do in a real race :)

PSN message to follow but count me in for the race.

I agree too dude but that's been a necessary sacrifice due to black screens and the general carnage generally associated with that turn, I found too many issues with it (and so too did Wurks in testing) so the rolling start was adopted.

After the next 4 hour race I will consider other ways to do it but for this race at least the rolling start stays.

HP, I've been [posting an event countdown the past few weeks to avoid any timezone confusion. As usual, race time start will be:-

I presume you will open room 30 mins beforehand for free practice?

Correct mate, 30 min prior. Those who don't appear on my friend list need to send me an FR ASAP.

I can testify to the carnage. It's probably only 1 in 6 races everyone manages to get through the first turn without taking damage, and let me tell you, nothing gets your panties in a bunch more than the idea of having to do a whole lap of the Nurb with transmission damage because someone T-boned you on T1.

Precisely mate, it's a nasty turn no doubt.

Yeah, Turn 1 at any track can be mayhem, but I do prefer how this works as it gives the pole sitter the advantage they earned, as the wise HP said,

The idea of the rolling starts is to make sure the pack is ever so slightly distanced at the begining of the race. We had determined that a rolling start actually increases the overall realism of the race in the sense that even the slightest bit of lag between cars is a huge added challenge that real drivers obviously don't have to deal with.

By distancing the cars at the start, everybody gets a fair chance at prooving their speed and their wits. The saddest thing to watch is a very fast team being unfairly nudged (by lag mostly) and having to spend the next 23.9 hours playing catch up. If the cars are distanced and there is a bad pass from a one-on-one battle and there is damage, well thats racing...

And lastly, having an extra 50M between you and the next guy at the start of a race that can last 3,750,000M (24hr) and thinking this will change the outcome...means there will be no off track excursions and perfect race management.

So just thought I'd show the thought process behind it. Thanks for the constructive group here aiming for a better event!

Hey Heathenpride, I haven't been on in a while and am just getting started again. I got signed up last year and did everything. TDZdave told me about the 2 hour races too. Is there different threads for that race? And isn't there one this weekend or today? I'm in America by the way so I'm a day back from you guys. When is the 2 hour race?

Qually starts at 2130 GMT, with room open for free practise 30 mins before. Check my post 6 posts before yours for the 'Live' Event Countdown which should leave you in no doubt as to the correct time in your timezone

I mentioned it online after last week's race, but just a reminder I won't be attending this weekend's race. Have fun.
