Great turnout for tonights race with 12 cars on the grid. Great race too. Well done to Allen for finally getting a connection that allowed you to complete the race with a victory

Apologies guys, I hadn't slept by 7am so figured i'd host the room so I opened one.... And promptly fell asleep halfway through setting it up!

Sorry about that LOL, well done Roger!!!

You did put him in a Fiat right?

What am I saying? I wouldn't matter. Allen would still win.

Again, sorry that I couldn't make it.

Looking forward to next time.

I had fun last night! From my perspective and skills the first 4-5 laps were the best and fun I have done. :)

Then I started to make bigger and bigger mistakes and I became a regular vistor in the pit...

One big mistake was the change from int rain to mediums. New fresh mediums out on the 7 or 8 ? lap and it started to rain. Actually it was more difficult for me to drive with the mediums on wet surface (around 30-40%) than having the int rain. Should have stayed with the int rain.

It's very nice to race with gentlemen like you! 👍

Track humidity at start 59%. All drivers starting on Intermediate tyres except car #38 and 35 who opted for Full Wets.

Nuumlrburgring24h_52_zps4a961e13.jpg

The rolling start sees Allen exits the essess with Play and David in hot pursuit and the rest of the pack follow on. It’s light drizzle but track is drying slightly.

Nuumlrburgring24h_53_zps8132fcc2.jpg

WIDFO wastes no time in powering past Bob who is getting to grips….or lack of it, in his first wet race in the RWD Vette.

Nuumlrburgring24h_54_zpsc29a6d73.jpg

Lots of action on the first circuit of the GP loop as Rosen slips past G3TH_D for 10th. Burre holds a watching brief in the background.

Nuumlrburgring24h_55_zps7cc9e079.jpg

Bobd is under pressure from ANFD and TMB teammates Gadget and i-was-ere as they leave the GP loop and venture onto the Nordschleife for the first time

Nuumlrburgring24h_56_zps9d9579cb.jpg

Predictably Allen is building a gap upfront but the battle for 2nd-4th is intense with Play being chased hard by the Orange cars of David and Cobani

Nuumlrburgring24h_57_zpsd9c14760.jpg

Bob runs wide at Metzgesfeld..........

Nuumlrburgring24h_58_zpsd2da379b.jpg

....... causing ANFD to spin in sympathy and Gadget JUST manages to avoid ANFD to slip past and pick up two positions up to 6th. By the time ANFD sorts his spin out he’s dropped to 10th.

Nuumlrburgring24h_59_zps6b16e12e.jpg

Allens lead is comfortable as he rounds the Carousel

Nuumlrburgring24h_60_zps522f67e9.jpg

WIDFO had been running in a fairly lonely 5th for most of the first lap but this mistake at Brunnchen allows the pack to close up a little.

Nuumlrburgring24h_61_zps44067186.jpg

the burre is making his way through the field as he passes i-was-ere on the approach to Schwalbenschwanz. He is now 8th after starting from the back of the grid after that qually d/c.

Nuumlrburgring24h_62_zpse201cacc.jpg

One corner later that becomes 7th as bob spins and sustains heavy front end and engine damage exiting the Little Carousel. I-was-ere follows through and passes bob also.

Nuumlrburgring24h_65_zps7278090b.jpg

Davidb lines up and execute a perfect draft pass of Play on the Dottinger Hohe straight to move into 2nd………

Nuumlrburgring24h_66_zpsb7d12a33.jpg

……..then Cobani gets a better exit from the final chicane to drag past Play into 3rd on the start finish straight.

Nuumlrburgring24h_63_zpsb62c9ea4.jpg

ANFD limps into the pits for Lap 1 repairs. Bob chooses to carry on and therefore regains 9th.

Nuumlrburgring24h_64_zpsd96bcb08.jpg

G3TH_D also pits to repair damage from multiple offs.

Lap1results_zpsbaef6b7b.jpg

So the order at the end of Lap 1 is as above.

Well, unfortunately for me, it didn't seem to be my night.
All started well and the first few laps in the wet where a lot of fun with some great battles.
But then I started making stupid mistakes and went backwards from 2nd to 9th. Kept well out of the way of others when damaged and to top everything off, the power shut down in my house leaving me in the dark.

The level of respect among these group of drivers was topnotch, as always! 👍

Thanks for the writeup Gadget. Nice shots.

I only got a little suspension knock at the Little Karousel, very possible it might show up as serious damage on consoles other than mine, GT5 network refresh issues probably.

I was having problems with tires as well. First time running the Vette in a full wet race, pitted many many times looking for the limits of Inters and Rain tires. Trying to find a sweet spot where it won't understeer all the way and then snap abruptly.

Spun a few times on lap 1 at 60% wetness on Inters, thankfully did not take out any GT-Rs around me. Great avoiding skills gentlemen.

Unlike the other Corvette of Alien Allen, which seems to run on rails in the slippery wet weather. Amazing car control 👍

Great report guys, my first race in the dark so battling with the weather made it far too interesting for me. I also managed to pit and change to the what felt the right tyres but as I pull away, the rain would either stop or start. Awesome racing to watch back, is that Corvette on ethanol or something?

I hope I stayed out of the way when you all waved on the way past! Thanks for letting me get involved, without experience, I'll never get there and thanks also for the after race report and banter.

Happy racing all, Geth

Tanks Gadget for the first lap report, it was great fun to read.👍 Can't wait for the rest of the laps.:)

I had an exiting race tanks to the great people here:tup:, witch you don't see in this scale to often in the ordinary open races. So tanks to all, and keep coming every week please.:)

Lap 2

Nuumlrburgring24h_67_zps336e8dd2.jpg

Half way around the GP loop Cobani passes davidb for 2nd but then immediately runs wide at the next corner to concede the position again. A good battle going on for 2nd/3rd and 4th . Allen continues majestically on his own up front.

Nuumlrburgring24h_68_zps5e2c42ad.jpg

A mistake from davidb at Flugplatz sees him run wide and hit the barrier giving engine and front left corner damage. Cobani re takes 2nd and Play moves into 3rd.

Nuumlrburgring24h_70_zpsfa02326c.jpg

Now it’s Play’s turn to make a mistake as he goes off at Foxhole and gets heavy front and rear rightside AND engine damage. Davidb re takes 3rd.

Nuumlrburgring24h_71_zpsd073906e.jpg

WIDFO sees a chance to catch Play, but instead makes a mistake hitting the Armco and getting damage.

Nuumlrburgring24h_72_zpsf8eb5482.jpg

With the Dottinger Hohe straight not far away, Gadget (6th) is now pushing hard to get into the perfect position to draft pass WIDFO (5th)………

Nuumlrburgring24h_73_zps61f51cf2.jpg

……but in doing so gets unsighted in the spray (and dark which is now descending on the circuit,) misses a braking point and spins, picking up damage. This allows the burre past an into 6th.

Nuumlrburgring24h_74_zpsdb6733d3.jpg

At the end of Lap 2 Gadget pits to repair damage. i-was-ere passes on the pits straight to move to 7th, while Rosen and Bob also pass Gadget.

Positions at end of lap 2.

More to come when I have time........

Awesome race last night guys, i enjoyed the rain and night, it made it more memorable, we have to do it again thats for sure.:sly:

Great race report Gadget can´t wait for the rest.👍

Lap 3

Nuumlrburgring24h_zps5a6372d3.jpg

i-was-ere being chased hard by Rosen who eventually finds a way past to move up to 7th.

Nuumlrburgring24h_1_zps726e87bc.jpg

Play makes a mistake when being pressed by WIDFO allowing him past. Teamate the burre also makes up a spot so Play drops down to 6th in the space of 100 metres.

Nuumlrburgring24h_2_zpse46cd9ae.jpg

The track was drying a bit (46%) and Bob had started to put in some good sector times in the RWD Vette, but he outbrakes himself at Steilstrecke and hits the barrier allowing Gadget regain 9th. Heavy damage to the #9 car.

Nuumlrburgring24h_3_zpsc3b5f0d3.jpg

Earlier in the lap David had passed Cobani for 2nd, but the two orange cars are in another drafting battle on Dottinger Hohe, with Cobani edging David back to 3rd again.

Nuumlrburgring24h_4_zps0f6655d8.jpg

Meanwhile i-was-ere spins on the exit of Galgenkopf allowing teammate Gadget to continue his climb back up the leaderboard into 8th.

Nuumlrburgring24h_5_zps674b47e4.jpg

At the end of the 3rd lap the two orange cars pits allowing WIDFO and the burre to move up to 2nd and 3rd respectively. With the track now at 43% and still drying both switch to RM’s. Only ANFD, back in 11th, had switched to slicks sooner opting for RH’s on the previous lap.

Nuumlrburgring24h_6_zps792d7e30.jpg

Play also pits to repair damage and take on a new set of Inters, so Rosen powers past up into 6th. Gadget also passes Play up into 7th.

Nuumlrburgring24h_7_zpse275835b.jpg

Next in to the pits are i-was-ere and Bob who both switch to RM’s. Maybe too soon for a RWD car?

Nuumlrburgring24h_9_zpse08c9e48.jpg

G3TH_D soldiers on bravely at the back of the pack in his first real experience of the Ring at night and in the wet. All part of the learning curve.

It's great to watch your pictures and read your race report, Gadget! 👍
Thank you!

Lap 4 & 5

Nuumlrburgring24h_8_zps25e4433e.jpg

Davidb is struggling for grip on his new RM’s and runs wide letting Rosen (Inters) slip inside and up into an excellent 5th.

Nuumlrburgring24h_zpsd80e9a1e.jpg

Looks like the switch to RM’s has proved costly for both of the orange cars, as Davidb, under pressure from Gadget, spins and gets damage at Drei-Fach Rechtes. Gadget moves to 5th. Cobani and Play also pass Davids badly damaged GTR.

Nuumlrburgring24h_1_zpse089ee85.jpg

Play is storming through the field and when Cobani runs wide he slips past and up into 6th

Nuumlrburgring24h_2_zpse01f94e2.jpg

At the end of lap 4 Rosen pits for RM’s, so Gadget moves to 4th, Play into 5th.

Nuumlrburgring24h_3_zps9f0daa2e.jpg

ANFD decides he’s had enough and parks it off the track at a marshal point. G3TH_D moves past and up to 11th but he is almost a lap behind leader Allen who has a 1:17 second lead over WIDFO and is maintaining amazing pace up front.

BFC249D7-1968-4E81-946A-04B9B489AEE3-1216-00000107A8C268E6_zps4ed884c5.jpg

Leaderboard end of Lap 4

Lap 5
Nuumlrburgring24h_4_zpsbfc90bad.jpg

Allen laps G3TH_D who obligingly moves over to let him past.

Nuumlrburgring24h_5_zps9cecc146.jpg

After a nose to tail battle for half a lap Gadget runs wide on his rapidly wearing Inters on the drying track (33%) and Play gets his chance to steal 4th place.

Nuumlrburgring24h_6_zps377d80c5.jpg

As the leaders complete lap 5, WIDFO is still in 2nd holding off the burre in 3rd. Allen pits but emerges with a lead still over a minute. Gadget pits for RM’s but , maintains 5th.

Nuumlrburgring24h_7_zpsa5b73d49.jpg

Cobani has had a miserable lap on RM’s and dropped all the way down to 9th.

Good read Gadget.

You were right, I switched to RM too soon, what did I say about testing limits of my tires, I have no idea in the wet. Was sliding my bottom off in those

I didn't want to take medium tyres as early as I did, but a damaged car forced me to pit when I did. I think at the time it was about 40% wet but had stopped raining so I took the gamble. Definitely cost me, and then to make matters worse, just when the track had dried enough to let my rm's make some gains it started to rain again (that's still to come in gadgets excellent race report)

David, I feel your pain. Unscheduled stops in changeable conditions mean you do have to gamble and unlike in F1 where you are never more than a couple of minutes from the sanctuary of the pits to correct a bad call, at The Ring, because of the length of the lap, a wrong call can literally ruin your whole race. I made exactly the same mistake in my race 2 weeks ago. Grrrrrrr

Lap 6

Nuumlrburgring24h_3_zps4b5cf332.jpg

Finally the burre makes it past WIDFO on the GP Loop.

Nuumlrburgring24h_1_zpsc4541573.jpg

Lap 6 was not one of Rosenlundaren’s favourites. A spin and heavy damage early in the lap meant he was limping thereafter. First i-was-ere tries to pass at Kesselchen but they touch sending the #38 car into the Armco. Sportingly Rosen stops and waits for i-was to get going again conceding the position, obviously feeling the accident was his fault.

Nuumlrburgring24h_2_zpscf68318f.jpg

Next it was davidb who passes, this time Rosen staying well off line to avoid interference

And then on Dottinger Hohe it’s Bob’s turn to pass Rosen, who’d Vette is liking the drying (25%) conditions on RM’s and showing good pace.

Gadget pits for RM’s and to repair damage but maintains 5th. i-was ere pits allowing David to move up into 6th as his recovery continues. Play has moved ahead of WIDFO.

That's correct. I slowed down abit too fast and that surprised i-was-ere who bumped into me.

Gadget Your reports really gives these races a new dimension and extend the experience. 👍 :)

Final Installment - Abridged version :)

Lap 7
No major position changes but good battles going on between teammates Play117 and the burre (who had to pit for damage at end of lap and thus concede 2nd), Gadget and davidb for 5th/6th, and closest of all, Bob and i-was-ere for 7th/8th. It’s raining again!
70D25B14-D9B6-48DD-9CA7-D8523684E182-2344-000001B6AC192256_zpse0191202.jpg

Lap 8
At the end of Lap 8, with the track now back up to 34% wet, Bob pits for Inters handing 7th to i-was-ere who’d been in his wheel tracks for most of the lap.
Nuumlrburgring24h_4_zpsa7feb5d2.jpg

Lap 9
There is a close battle going on between WIDFO (4th) on Inters, Gadget 5th on RM and davidb 6th on RM’s., but track is now beyond 38%, and Inters are starting to come into there own.
Davidb is first to find and pass the grip limit with an off and getting some damage to engine and front wheel.
Gadget pits for Inters and is followed in by Davidb and i-was-ere. This means Bob is now right with davidb having passed i-was while he pitted.

Lap 10

Nuumlrburgring24h_5_zpsa97ac408.jpg

Davidb laps G3TH_D who is nonetheless gaining valuable experience in these changing conditions. Bob is just behind David and also laps the #35 TMB car.

At the end of Lap 10, the positions are beginning to stabilise
48AF3DE0-02B0-4AE2-83F9-04A2A4E81B08-2344-000001B6B06BE27C_zps77a8f8f6.jpg

Lap 11
The sky is getting brighter but the rain is still falling, with the track now at 48%. All cars ar eon Inters, apart from Bob and i-was who have opted for Wets

Nuumlrburgring24h_6_zps47d11b65.jpg

The burre has had an off and his tyres are past there best resulting in teammate Play drafting past on Dottinger to move into 2nd . Seconds later the burre is into the pits for new Inters and repair.
5FF215C9-7044-4FA4-A270-25FAEDEEF8E1-2344-000001B6B277200B_zps421c653c.jpg

Lap 12

Nuumlrburgring24h_7_zpscf42f428.jpg

i-was-ere gambles on an early switch to RM’s on the drying track, but runs wide allowing Rosen to slip into 8th, only to recover and re take it a few corners after Rosen gets damage.
7EB8C394-D4E0-4658-8388-FB5C3B3C6635-2344-000001B6B48082CE_zps0238b09f.jpg

Lap 13
Going into the final lap Allen was almost 3 minutes clear at the front, but only 30 seconds separated 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Gadget looked safe with a minute lead over 6th place davidb, but, Gadgets car had damage to 2 corners and would have to be driven conservatively to the chequered flag.

Nuumlrburgring24h_8_zps5ab843ae.jpg

Ooops, spoke too soon. Gadgets car doesn’t seem to be pointing in the right direction. Damage to a third corner. That’s going to eat into that 1 minute buffer over David!

Nuumlrburgring24h_9_zpsa667de90.jpg

So Allen takes a well deserved and dominant victory by almost 3 mins.

Nuumlrburgring24h_10_zps4154deb4.jpg

Play is an excellent second from teammate the burre.
