Hi everyone...
I see Gadget has already added me to the list, but yep, I'd like to join in on this one please :)
I couldnt get my forum name to include the underscore as per my PSN ID, so I'm atikali2000 here, but Atik_ online.

I'll do my best to hold up the rear of the pack for everyone :)

Welcome Atik_ and fellow TMB driver. Hoping we might actually get all 4 Yellow TMB GTR's out for a run tonight

Guys, unexpectedly there's 3 dudes asleep in my lounge right now near my rig so racing in a few hours is out.

Gadget, can you please run practice for me? If not can anyone else?

I can cover no problem. See you guys at 2100 GMT for free practise. HP, so this means you will not be racing either, or that you'll be able to show up later and race after qually?

OK, so who's in for this Saturdays Race, qualification for which will start in

Not sure if HP is running this or me, but wither way the lounge (mine or his) will be open for free practise 30 mins before the above time.

So far I only know about my own Team Motion Blur

1. Gadget334
2. Atik_
3. G3TH_D (TBC)
4. i-was-ere (TBC)
5. Heathenpride (HOST)
6. Davidb
7. TDZDave
8. Rosenlundaren (maybe)
9. Allen29dk
10.BobD

Who else?
I might make it, maybe too late for quali. May I then start from the back? I'll be sure to get my powerdrink ready and some coffee.

You'll be fighting with me to get to hold the rear of the pack :dunce:

Kinda nervous about this now, but looking forward to it. :nervous:

Cobani - You're in mate
Atik_ We'll be gentle :)

All - You know my style. If I'm running qually it'll be a 1 lap qualifying race with collisions OFF. In other words, for the qually race only, all cars will be ghosts so you can drive through them. Obviously for the race normal service will be resumed, and collisions will be back on.

I'll have a think about what weather and day/night conditions to serve up over the next hour. Let's see how mean I'm feeling :sly:

Wont be able to do the race tonight guys, im a bit tired, had a tough day so have a good race everyone.👍

The app got locked on the sending process of my message. Tried it twice and had a double post. Apologies. Can't see if there's a way to delete a post

* Bob could have won the qually race but slowed down on the line because he was concerned that if it rained his RWD Vette would prove to be a roadblock. He starts 5th
**i-was-ere came second in the qually race but elected to start at the back of the grid due to his known lag problems. Roll on next Thursday when he gets new broadband!

Race Start time 1000 hrs, Time Change 6

Lap 1/13
Track humidity at start 0%. All drivers starting on RM tyres

Nuumlrburgring24h_6_zpsdcbd97c4.jpg

WIDFO leads Gadget, Davidb, Cobani et al through the Esses for the rolling start but there has already been an incident when Cobani appears to ram i-was-ere from behind during the grid formation. Surely a case of lag deception or maybe i-was-ere was invisible to Cobani?. Result was severe damage to the rear of i-was and front and engine damage for Cobani.

Nuumlrburgring24h_7_zps8cd2cc89.jpg

Gadget gets a great tow from leader WIDFO on the approach to the chicane at the end of the GP loop and dives down the inside for a clean and important pass .

Nuumlrburgring24h_4_zps35734170.jpg

i-was-ere passes Atik and G3TH_D but then loses it right in front of G3TH_D.

Nuumlrburgring24h_8_zpsad27f7e5.jpg

Bob hits Cobani from behind under breaking for Foxhole giving light front/rear corner damage to both respectively. Bob and Ejiff pass Cobani for 4th and 5th respectively on the exit.

Nuumlrburgring24h_9_zps5cd90791.jpg

Seconds later Geth loses it under braking for the same corner, and close following Atik spins trying to avoid the accident. Not an ideal first lap for the TMB teammates. Amazingly both escape without damage.

Nuumlrburgring24h_5_zps9657f4b2.jpg

Gadget leads WIDFO and Davidb into Breidscheid, with Bob’s blue Vette in the background.

Nuumlrburgring24h_15_zps44e58fbf.jpg

Ejiff considers a pass on Bob under braking for Breidscheid but loses allowing Cobani to regain 5th.

Nuumlrburgring24h_11_zpsed9c5086.jpg

Gadget taking plenty of kerb at Klostertal with WIDFO in hot pursuit

Nuumlrburgring24h_12_zps01edeef5.jpg

Ejiff runs wide and has a damage free run across the grass allowing i-was up into 6th.

Nuumlrburgring24h_18_zpsfd1bc46d.jpg

Dottinger lap 1. Gadget has managed to pull a few seconds clear of the pack, but WIDFO is about to get draft passed by first davidb and then Bob’s speedy Corvette.

Nuumlrburgring24h_19_zpse3aa9501.jpg

In fact as they go crest the hill under the Bilstien Bridge, Bob, carrying 10mph more than the cars in front touches David sending him onto the grass but neither chasing car takes advantage and David escapes damage, and position intact.

At the end of the first lap Atik and Geth pit to repair damage and the positions are as follows:-

D7AE6962-104F-4250-B17D-E2357D5CE744-5388-000003DFCB62B516_zps5a7eb43e.jpg

Lap 2

Nuumlrburgring24h_20_zps87a950fa.jpg

At Adenau Forest WIDFO drops it and hits the Armco allowing Cobani past and into 4th. Damage to 3 corners and the engine will cost him dear. I-was also passes him as he limps back to the pits.

Nuumlrburgring24h_21_zpsd637f099.jpg

On the fast run through Kessel chen Bob’s Vette shows it’s top speed but loses it challenging for 2nd resulting in heavy damage to 2 corners.
Seconds later Cobani lifts as he us greeted with Bobs spinning car and eases past. But i-was is able to not only pass Bob, but use his greater momentum to pass Cobani too. Nice double pass! WIDFO also passes Bob to move back to 5th.

Nuumlrburgring24h_22_zps9240d924.jpg

WIDFO stops to repair damage, as do Bob and Ejiff. Less damaged cars of i-was and Cobani stay out.

Nuumlrburgring24h_23_zps812dba70.jpg

Atik moves up to 7th as Ejiff pits for repairs.

Lap 3

Nuumlrburgring24h_24_zpscc62cefd.jpg

After almost a full lap of i-was challenging David for 2nd, he actually ends up being passed for 3rd on the exit of the final chicane by Cobani.

At the end of the 3rd lap Gadgets dropped a couple of seconds to David thanks to an unseen error causing light rear left damage.
Ejiff pits again to repair damage, as does Atik.

Lap 4

Nuumlrburgring24h_25_zps55fee4be.jpg

David makes a mistake at Kallenhard allowing Cobani to ease into 2nd. I-was-ere also right in the mix of this 3 lap long battle for 2nd.

Nuumlrburgring24h_26_zpsc9e43c0c.jpg

It’s that section from Kessel chen to Mutzkurve again, with David and i-was duking it out side by side. 2 seconds later they are both off in high speed spins and heavy damage. Wow this section of track is claiming some victims today.

Nuumlrburgring24h_29_zps38ebdc91.jpg

Cobani had been steadily reeling in Gadget but a spin at Pflazgarten 2 suddenly meant that i-was-ere was right with him and after this spectacular incident on the exit of the Little Carousel, i-was eventually moves to 2nd when Cobani pits to repair the damage at the end of the lap.

Race Report part 2

Lap 5

Nuumlrburgring24h_30_zps14f2402a.jpg

Cobani passes i-was and sets off after Gadget.
i-was pits to change tyres and repair heavy damage dropping him to 5th.

Gadget is the only car not to have pitted at all yet. And has increased the lead to 21 seconds. Looks like he’s trying a one stop strategy. Ejiff also stops again to repair damage. I think he owes his pit crew a drink at the end of the race! 
Unnoticed in 8th, Atik posts an 8:51 lap, an all time PB for him in this car.

Lap 6

With Gadget on 6 lap old tyres, Cobani makes the most of his newer rubber and closes to within a few second of by the start of the pit straight. Gadget’s one and only pit stop saves Cobani the job of passing. WIDFO also moves up to 2nd before Gadget emerges fuelled and tyred t the end of the race.
We start to see light rain for the first time in the race.

Lap 7

Nuumlrburgring24h_31_zps6e739e31.jpg

Gadget now has a hard charging Bob to contend with in his mirrors
At the end of the lap WIDFO stops for fuel and a new set of RM’s. The rain is still falling but only shows track humidity of 4%, so it’s the right tyres to have at the moment. Gadget, Bob and i-was pass him while in the pits.

Lap 8

i-was-ere departs to go and race in the CRAP Kart series which he’d committed to.

Nuumlrburgring24h_32_zpsa304fb53.jpg

Geth pulls off track to allow leader Cobani to lap him and then pits at the end of the lap for damage/tyres.

Nuumlrburgring24h_33_zps7955d7de.jpg

Cobani makes HIS second stop also and Gadget passes him but they are neck and nect into the esses at the start of Lap 9

Lap 9

Nuumlrburgring24h_34_zps0375159e.jpg

After a lap long nose to tail battle, Cobani gets the perfect draft pass on the Dottinger Straight to regain him lead.

Nuumlrburgring24h_35_zpsb7e75e6a.jpg

A little further back, Atik runs wide and finds the barrier at Galgenkopf and Davidb has to slow to avoid him while lapping. Then Bob takes advantage of Davids compromised entry speed to draft pass David on Dottinger and move up to 4th. David makes his scheduled tyre/fuel stop.

Lap 10

The rain came to nothing, barely reaching 4% before stopping and the track drying completely.

Nuumlrburgring24h_36_zps9d73bddb.jpg

Ejiff is having another challenging lap with damage causing his GTR to handle like a supermarket trolley. Look at the toe out angle on the rear left wheel.

Nuumlrburgring24h_37_zps422e5469.jpg

Atik passes the heavily wounded Ejiff on Dottinger to take 6th.

Lap 11

Light is beginning to fade and the headlights go on

Nuumlrburgring24h_38_zps16fb1fa0.jpg

Bob has an off and sustains rear wheel damage half way around the lap. David is quickly upon him to relieve him of his 4th place.

Nuumlrburgring24h_39_zps60b56eef.jpg

A slightly alarming moment for Gadget on the fast run through Pflazgarten 2 when he is dazzled by teammate Atik’s headlights after a spin.

Lap 12

Nothing major on this lap although Gadget clearly nursing his tyres (already 6 laps old) to the finish. WIDFO is closing fast but will likely need a mistake from Gadget if he is to steal 2nd. Geth posts his best race lap with an 8:48.

D95A13BA-17B1-46F6-941F-5CE9C0C8502C-5388-000003DFF81C3BFE_zpsa79ee42a.jpg

Lap 13

Now fully dark but dry.

Bob and Ejiff pit to repair damage. Atik jumps them both to move up to 5th. Geth moves to 7th on the strength of Bob seemingly wanted to stay in the pitlane and drink coffee. Looks like he’s had enough.

So in the end it's a great win for Cobani who despite a challenging first lap fought back through the field to win by over half a minute. I (Gadget) was very pleased with my 2nd place and the fact I actually made my one stop strategy work. I'd tried it before, but either damage or changing track conditions had thwarted my plans.

And another solid podium for WIDFO must please him too with less than 2 weeks before the 24hr race

Great report Gadget. I loved the race and particularly enjoyed managing to get a PB in race conditions. I also managed a further 3-4 excellent clean laps (for me anway) but the times were compromised due to having started in the pit lane for each of them.

I am very happy with my progression to a 8.51s from the 16 minute lap I did back in November!

Apologies to David for my spin as you were about to overtake. I saw your cars approach and I was hoping to get onto the side to be able to let you pass without incident, however I was carrying some ridiculous corner to corner damage which results in some serious handling issues. I ended out spinning out and facing the wrong way on the side of the track as you approached. Only now I realised it cost you a place.

One more weekend of competitive practice and you'll be good to go!!

Oh, and here is a nice map of the Ring (no GP loop though) that might be useful for references corner names.

Great write up as always Gadget. Just a couple of points:

When Bob tapped me at the end of lap 1 I did get slight rear damage. Bob and Widfo were good enough to let me hold my place (don't know how I managed not to spin), but with the damage I wasn't sure how the car would behave. It's always a lottery with rear damage.

As it happened the car was still pretty drivable but realisticly was a couple of seconds per lap slower which let Gadget pull away and meant I was holding up Bob, Widfo, Cobani, and I-was (I think).

Sure enough, on lap 2 at Kesselchen I could see Bob lining me up for a slip stream pass. I tried to hold my line when he made the move. Next thing I see he is spinning. Hope that wasn't my fault. Let me know Bob.

Then on lap 4, again near Kesselchen, i-was passes me in a similar fashion. Just on this, you know how when you are walking down the footpath beside your mate and, just for fun, as you approach a lamp post you give them a shove so they walk into it? Well that's what happened here. I was holding to the right of the track. I-was was clearly passing on the left, and just as he comes past his car leaps sideways and bunts me into the wall sustaining maximum damage. I was literally driving with the wheel at about 70 degrees from straight and I have never seen a car crab so badly on the replay.

Of course, this was only due to lag and not deliberate and would not have looked like this from i-was's perspective, but end result for me is the same. Not that I'm bitter :sly:. Anyway, it should be much better once you have your new broadband i-was.

Rest of the race went ok for me. Mid pack finish. Not too many mistakes. No other damage. It's ok 👍

Great race report Gadget! Really cool to see. I never saw i-was-ere during the race and had no damage during lap 1. Apparantly we had some fine moments, but again, I was just driving on my own. :)

Very happy with my race, although taking damage is never great, but with an attacking strategy and the rush of chasing Gadget I had a very nice race. Thank you gentlemen.

This weekend is the 4hr marathon? I need to get some sleep then!

I enjoyed our battle too. When you passed me on track on Dottinger I had planned to push hard and follow you but made a stupid error at the end of the pit straight and caught the tyres on the left hander of the Esses. With front left damage and older tyres I had no chance of staying with you so opted to control the gap to 3rd and drive to conserve my tyres, which had done 7 laps by the chequered flag.

Looking forward to the 4 hr VLN and at least one of the CRAP 2 hour enduros this weekend

Awesome recap as always gadget. Not easy to recap a race on a track that big with that any cars. And get great pics too.

I think I could be fast enough to finish mid pack if I could limit the number of brain cramps I have. Aremburg got me more than once. First time was probably the worst damage I ever had on this track in a race. And man did that 14+ minute lap feel like forever. Second time I was chasing widfo hard. Not sure he saw me coming but that quick bend before the corner I touched the grass and was completely out of control flying through the corner. I'm just glad I missed him.
