Guys, I would like to say that my respect level for Gadget and Scott and the other gent or 2 in thier 24 hour has gone through the roof, I'd have lobbied all my kit out the window after that shocking few laps, but you eventually pulled it all back taogether and proved you could still match pace, It was still a fantastic event, hopefully we get good turn out next year, going to try my hand in some marketing once all spec's and dates are locked in,
Thanks Dave. TMB were never in it to win it because we were I guess a 'pro am' team. For sure i-was-ere and myself have been regulars in the practise rooms so were as prepared as we could be, but G3TH_D and Atik_ were real life mates 'roped into this' by me back in November. They'd not played GT5 for ages, at the time Geth was still using a DS3 (had to go procure a cheap wheel to practise on) and neither had ever raced at the Ring, let alone with the unforgiving discipline of 'Full Damage'. I'm proud of both of them for the effort they put in to get to were we were.
For Scott (i-was-ere) he was on the pace, but 3 weeks before the event found he had a wedding to go to on Saturday, so ended up drving through the night to arrive 12 hours into the event (0300 local time) and sit straight in an unfamiliar wheel and have to perform. Likewise he did a fantastic job and allowed a welcome relief for sleep for a couple of our team.
Next year we will be back, and better prepared. We hope to do a GHH, and learn from the first year, and translate that into victory the next.
Apart from my team, I have to say what a fantastic race it was up front. Having raced with all of the individuals of GHH and TOR many times before (except Luke, who I only saw briefly before) I knew that it would be a tremendously tight battle up front, and boy was it that. Congrats to both. I enjoyed watching that battle as a spectator almost as much as our involvement in the race.
And finally we LOVED the FB feeds put together by Kurt and Oliver, and the inter team banter in the Team Managers Skype feed. Some grrat moments there and genuine 'laugh out loud' comments. For the record, I am NOT really a Dolly Parton fan by the way (thanks for starting that rumour Geth!!)
Already thinking about next year.
PS - Does anyone know how to export a replay that big (it was 542Mg) because when I tried to export to XMB so as I could share with my teamates I got a 'Sorry, the file is too big to export' which is a shame as my TMB buddies would love to have a copy for themselves. At present only copy is on my drivers machine. We don't even have a copy on Atik's PS3 which we used for the Team Managers console because it DC'd several times during the 24hrs and so didn't make a recording of the full race.
