Thanks mate.

LAPS FACE = 92 FOLKS.

I think when you factor in time lost for pit stops, 92 laps is too much. I think 80 will be closer to the 2 hour time limit. If I'm running this tonight I'd prefer to run tonights race at that length if you have no objection. Qually starts in 5 hours 15 mins. See you all there

Sorry to inform you gentlemen that I will not be able to make tonight's race. Too bad, as I was looking forward to flying 'round Laguna Seca in my RX7.

Gadget, I can't make today mate, sorry, I'm only part time in the series,

ANFD
What does that mean ? Is the race a timed race or a 92 lap race ?

Also, If someone doesn't qualify and they start at the back, how do you determine which set of their allocated tires are removed from the que ?

92 laps based on 1 min 30 sec average lap time. Better that way than a timed race.

Not sure I understand the 2ne question mate?

80 is ok mate, let me know how long it lasts.

That's in another series. ANFD mixed them

So what happened this morning?

Perhaps someone else can write a report, but I can top and tail.

30 mins qually produced the following grid:-

Mic basically led from start to finish, but Scott (i-was-ere) enjoying his first lag free race following the long awaiting broadband install, kept him honest. I was mostly 40-50 secs behind Mic, with Scott about 15 seconds ahead, but it was fascinating because of the different fuel strategies.

About 15 laps from the end Scott tangled with David who'd had an off and was tagged by Scott when he rejoined the track. This required an unscheduled stop to repair damage which allowed me into second.

Unfortunately 3 laps from the end Scott, pushing hard to regain 2nd, went off all on his own and got damage, and when he pitted this time, it coincided with a d/c within sight of the chequered flag, dropping him to 5th.

Final Results

As you can see, my decision to run the race over 80 laps was pretty close, with Mic's winning time being just 2 mins 30 secs inside the 2 hour mark.

Looking forward to the next one already.:)

The garaiya was definitely about 0.5-1.0 second faster and had good tyre life at Laguna seca. It just fits that track so well. Very smooth drive this week. Scott matched my lap times when he had fresh rubber (in the 1:25's), but I only made 2 pit stops and even had a lap at 1.23.9xx!

Someone had fun taking out all the braking markers once again, lol. They were gone by lap 2 I think. I'll have to check the replay.

There were many incidents the last few laps it seemed, so that gap isn't 100% reflective of the race between the top 3. I was fortunate to have run incident free.

Yes, my 'incident' was that I'd origially planned to 3 stop at 20,40 and 60. But in the first stint on lap 19 I'd noticed that I was still managing to lap within about 2 secs of my best, and seeing that leader Mic didn't stop, I thought I'd try and get to lap 26/27 to put me on a 2 stopper.

This worked well, and was on course for potentially leap frigging 2nd place Scott, who was clearly 3 stopping.

Trouble was, when I made my second stop on lap 54, I'd not re programmed my brain to realise this was my final stop, and I over rode the suggested 18 litres suggestion with a 12 litre entry. As soon as I pressed 'Enter' I realised my mistake, but by then it was too late and I resigned myself to a 6litre splash and dash about 7 laps from the end. I pushed like hell and was managing to match Mic for many laps, but the extra stop meant that Mic lapped me to cap a dominant victory. With the new tyres at the end I did mange to haul Mic in and JuST in unlap myself on the line.

As is often the case with enduros, once the field finds its proper order of fastest first, it becomes a challenge of 'You vs The Track', as you push to improve you lap times, while ensuring you don't go off and get the dreaded damage. I love enduros. They are a unique challenge and when u are in a room of 'Gentlemen Racers' like we were, its and absolute pleasure.

Lol.....good old iPhone autocorrect. I try to write 'Frogging' and get that.

I sometimes think the author of Apples Auto Correct dictionary might be that women who wrote '50 Shades of Grey'

I'm not sure we had enough participants to know Dave. I was definitely faster, but I'm pretty good on that track. It seemed like the 2 cusco's and myself ran similar lap times during the middle part of the race. The celica's and rx7 were way behind, but I'm not sure of the reasons or what kind of lap times they could do since only 4 of us tried to qualify.

I'll check the replay and see what kind of lap times everyone was doing. And let's hear from the other drivers.

I think the best I managed in the RX7 was a 1.26.1 but that is no indication of the car. I basically did about 45 minutes practice. Also the car I used is one I had tuned up for the crap enduro at laguna seca many months ago. I have no idea whether I was on the right track with that tune, although I do remember switching to the 2wd Imprezza at the 11th hour on that occasion, so obviously I wasn't totally happy with it.

the RX-7 requires a brilliant gearbox tune for the rotary power to work at optimal precision, a brilliant car when all is working accordingly,

Technically, Scott should have finished well ahead of me ... his extended pit stop and disconnect at the end of the race gifted 4th to me. That puts both Celicas at the back of the pack basically. I was able to hold off the Cuscos for a lap or two running as hard as I could on fresh tires, but once they got by, they were well and gone :)

I will admit that Laguna is far from my favorite track and I may be off the pace due to "natural causes" :)

I had one incident of damage due to the momentary mind wander of reading the chat box when Dee came into the room and another one from mind lapse thinking about WIDFO going off :) Yes ... I am my own worst enemy :sly:

Looking forward to the next race :)

If anyone wants to try to do some practice on the next track to compare lap times, i'm game. Daytona Road is not my best track, but i have been known to rock the bus stop! (when i don't crash)

Turns 1, 3, 5 and 6 are the ones i seem to have issues with:sly:

Heathen put a link to the race time next to each race (but didn't type it out). You may not be able to see the link from your phone.

the next 3 races qualifying all appear to occur at 22:30GMT every other Saturday.
the final race is one hour earlier.
4/27: 22:30GMT Daytona Road Course (2.5 hrs)
5/11: 22:30GMT Suzuka (3.0 hrs)
5/25: 22:30GMT Le Sarthe (no chicanes) (3.5 hrs?)
6/08: 21:30GMT Nurburgring Type V (4.0 hrs)

I know scott was in the high 1.50s,

ok, i'll try to run some laps in the next day or two and see what i find.

Edit:
Did about a dozen laps and got down to 1:54 on fresh RS tyres offline.

I'm doing 1:54s on RM. I think that's what we are using?

I asked the question and never got an "official" reply.

so what does RM "minimum" tires mean?
we thought it meant we could use RM or RS for the race.

So i'm 4 seconds off pace. Yikes. I doubt i can find that much time from tuning and practice. I look forward to the challenge though!:dopey:

Sorry for confusion, RM minimum means you can use RM, RH etc but not RS - sorry about that.
