i called michrosoft andthey said i need to reinstall windows and everything in it....if u hav had this problem and fixed pleez tell me how u fixed .

p.s. im on xp home edition

don't worry about the zeros

so this error C:\Windows\System32\some file name - error comes up??? we need to know that filename to help. . .

^ bastige. . .

that is not a good thing. . . sounds like something is accessing it right from startup - try doing this

go to "Start" then "Run" type in "msconfig" and then choose "Diagnostic startup" then apply and ok - restart - if this fixes it the go to "selective startup" and one by one at a check until one of the items does it. . . then we'll have the problem located. . .

Try checking your Startup tab?

Start Menu> Programs> Startup.

That might be a way to fix it?
Very sparce do programs which install into the start up put items in the start up folder. msconfig, like miata13B suggested, would not only show things in the start up folder, if any, but also things with registry keys to start up.

aaaagggghhhhh...miata ur idea screwed up my comp ( no im not mad at u) o well i geuss it was comin....now its stuck on basic mode and now it wont open "regedit" or "misconfig"....i cant even log onto my interner anymore infact this is my sisters labtop. anyhow i gotta erase everything

I'm fairly sure that there is a way out of this diagnostic mode. I'd give you a hand but its been moths since i've been near a windows machine....you might want to wait on the reformat....there must be a way out of it....

What excactly did you do??? Did you follow the directions on the microsoft site or did you follow my msconfig thing??? if you did, boot the computer up while tapping the "F8" key constant until you get a menu that asks for safe mode normal mode and such, go into safe mode. . . You should be able to access this and get back to normal mode. . . After that you should be able to boot up fine. . . I hope you did not go into regedit and started deleting things left and right without making a backup. . . that would be frowned upon. . . Backup backup backup. . . Anyways tell me what you did and we'll go from there. . .

Make a screenshot of the error (I'm suprised someone hasn't said this already) so we know exactly what it is. When it pops up next time, hit the Print Scr button, go into MS Paint and press Ctrl+V, save and post it up here.

:odd:

u hav the same folder in your pc...is it really that important to hav a screenshot...but anything that might work would be kool so here it is

Is it an error that pops ups or is it the system32 folder that pops up? If it's the latter, chances are something is accessing that folder and is bringing it to focus.

Hmm, do me a favor:
  • Start > Run. Type in regedit
  • On the left their should be HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. Click on the + sign.
  • Click the + sign next to SOFTWARE
  • Click the + sign next to Microsoft
  • Click the + sign next to Windows
  • Click the + sign next to Current Version
  • And finally, double click on Run
  • On the right hand side, is there "RFX_auto_upgrade"?
