C6 rumors

i read about that suspension that has micro ball berings in it. by running an electric current through it, they can change the viscosity. they described it as being able to go from damping to solid almost instantly...like 5W to 100W.

i wish i had 55k. :D

and whats the deal with being only a "viper fan" or "corvette fan". im seeing a lot of this lately.

im a fan of many cars, foreign and domestic.

yes, i am a fan of both viper and corvette.

And this corvette doesn't look THAT bad from the back. But the front doesn't look the best. I think they should keep the non-flap up headlights but change some other things. And the side "scope" if u will reminds me of the 2003 viper so that should be changed.

I must be the only one who thinks the new 'Vette looks pretty good. I think it looks kind of true to the other "old" design while still evolving...

I'm not just a Viper fan. I like many cars.

  • Dodge Viper
  • Shelby Series 1
  • McLarens
  • Lotus Elise
  • Jaguar XKR
  • Aston Martin V12 Vanquish
  • there's more...

your not alone ScarySquirrel...I think it looks pretty cool as well (even though I'm not the greatest 'vette fan)

The only part that really looks "Corvette" to me is the part just above the front wheels. Also, what's the deal with all these carmakers making the rear end of every car so high? It just looks kinda dumb, especially in a sports car like the Corvette.

I actually DO remember that, Deathhawk. I consider it to be the worst invention on a car ever. Ever, hands down.

If you like a better design of the "C6", take a look on the latest issue of Car and Driver magazine '50 years of Corvette' on newstands now. I think this design will enlighten some Vette fans.

I too disagree with the design from autoweek, it looks more like a Japanesse supercar than a 'real' Corvette.

The front end is way too reminiscent of the Aztec...don't ask me why, but we all know that's not a good thing. The rear/rear glass is pretty much unchanged, and I still don't like it. It's too abrubt; to early-90's; too cheap. If this is to be GM's flagship performance car, there needs to be a bit of growing up to do, even if it means stealing some of Pininfarina's designs. Better yet, why not hire Pinin to do it altogether? Really, how much could it cost? Think of how much more the C6 will sell...at least, I think so. :)

So why don't they kill it and never let it live again!!!! The Corvette gets better gas milage then my durnago! What more do they need??

Displacment will probably hover in the 6.3L (think Vortec 6300) area. It might also have the XV8 2 cams/block, 3 vlaves/cylinder pushrod powered design, as well as the DoD, but nothing is certain. The C5 50th Anniversery electromagnetic shock absorbers will be added though. Power sould be around 4-450bhp and it should weight about 2800lbs (more or less). Fast and furious indeed... as well as world class... What GM should really do is start a performance division making cars off of their improved platforms.

To explain, displacement on demand is currently on one of the Chevy trucks...it involves shutting down increments of 2 cilynders at a time when not much power is needed, thus cutting fuel to the cut cilynder to increase gas milage. So, say your going down the highway at 70mph, just a flat highway, you're just coasting along. All you need is a tad bit of power to keep at that pace, then if you come to a up hill or just want to increase your speed, you hit the gas and the computer tells the engine what it needs for this increase need of power, and it will turn on the right number of cilynders for the job...

Personally, I see no point in this, and I'm sure that if something screwed up, you would end stuck with 4 working cilynders and an expensive repair bill...

Well I we all gotta agree that Corvette Race Cars are good?

Heck I'm not so sure about there Domestic Cars........ I mean on striaghts there Great but throw it into a Corner and you get Major Oversteer..........................

Past Corvettes and present non-Z06's, I'd agree. But the Z06 suspension is no joke: 1.06g is some serious grip. Sure, power oversteer is there for the asking, but it can more than keep up with some of the best. It seems that Chevy is trying to distance themselves from their own, self-created muscle car past...to create a new, semi-modern muscle car era. :) Perhaps GM has learned (via many Japanese beatings) that you can have power and control. :blackeye:
