Cadillac Cien isn't a Production Model?

I'm trying to play the Supercar Series in the Professional Events section, and I do a race with a Pagoni Zonda. I hate the lack of grip with the tires, and I noticed that the Cadillac CIEN is racing. I know I have a CIEN from some race that I won. So I put some upgrades, turbo, maybe weight reduction, and try to enter it in. Unfortunately, it's telling me that the CIEN isn't a production model.

What's going on here GT Planet?!? I don't wanna race this series with a damn lack of grip Zonda. Better yet, if anyone can tell me (or link me to) what car to race this because I'm not entirely sure what cars in Gran Turismo are production and which aren't, that'd be great!

In both GT3 and GT4, there are occasional races where the AI shows up in cars that you are not allowed to drive.

A production car is one that isn't a concept, tuner or a racing model. The CIEN is a concept. It's a known gliotch that the AI uses cars that you can't, the CIEN and the VW Nardo being good examples of this.

Any car with around 500 bhp and a good handling is able to do the trick, I've won it with a stock Ford GT (a popular choice) but also a tuned Skyline, for example, is a good ride there. Pick any supercar of your liking or tune some other to supercar specs and you're set to sweep the floor. 👍

Yeah, although you may need to tune it a lot to be able to go against the supercars (above 493hp)

Well, don't be mad if it fails to control perfectly. I would've gone for a better all-around car, something like a Ford GT or Merc SLR... good luck

Actually there's a pretty long list of cars that can win this series, including all three of the production Zondas. Probably the least expensive would be the BMW M5 or the Ford GT, and those two cars require little or no modification to do it. The Saleen can get the job done, and you'll need one anyway for the Saleen manufacturers' race. The aforementioned Mercedes SLR McLaren can do it, so can the Mercedes SL 65 AMG and the Mercedes SL 600, and they can also be used in manufacturers' races. There are many other cars you could use, really too many for an exhaustive list.

One car I was disappointed to find out can't be used is the Tommy kaira ZZII.

Thanks guys! The Skyline wasn't able to handle Infineon all that well, so I ended up buying the Ford GT. B-Spec Bob has some problems with this track for some reason. But I was able to beat it.

Thanks again guys!

Did you beat NY yet? oh gosh... it is actually faster to e-brake some of the turns at NY, because if not you'll be going as slow as a crab sometimes

I used the Saleen S7 but had to sort the braking problem out first, i still wouldn't recommend using it though.

Same here. :)

Also a Ford GT with a spoiler and downforce can make a sort of fake Ford GT race car, downforce is equal to that of a stock JGTC 500 Class. I also bought a gearbox, suspension, brake and brake balance, and all the other non HP mods, as well as SS tires. Worked out great.

A TVR Cerbera Speed 6 is a great choice, as it can go fully modded, brilliant handling, lightweight, and great tire life.

I know this is slightly off topic wrt the Cien....but on the topic of GT4 glitches

...in the German Touring Car Championship, the BMW 320i Touring Car '03 is not allowed to enter the race even though you can enter with an Italian Alfa Romeo 155 2.5 V6 TI'93 :odd:

That's because the Alfa is a DTM car, the 320i is not a DTM car, it's a touring car but not DTM spec.

When I first did that series I used the Ford GT. I have since done it again and some other races with the Viper SRT-10. It's a good bargain for what you get and you can do the series straight out of the box with it, which is what I did. If you want to modify it, you can add quite a bit of stuff to it and still come up cheaper than the Ford GT.

Thanks Dave A for clearing this up for me..

I sure wish that I knew that before buying the BMW 320i, it's a nice addition to the collection but I am not sure what I can use it for in my quest for A-Spec pts..

On the topic of cars for the Prof Supercar series... I used the BMW M5 (races 2,3,5) & the BMW M3 GTR (races 1,4) and they proved winnable with min HP/tyre upgrades. I managed to get an average of 194 A-Spec pts for the series even with my poor driving skills.

Thanks for digging up this ancient thread and posting something totally worthwhile...
