Camaro Race Car Question

Hey, you know in Gran Turismo 3 you would have 4 variations of the Camaro Race car? Is it the same in this game as well or there's only one Camaro Race Car, but you can choose the colors?

Yeah, I think there are the black (the one I have, in GT3 I had the red, liked that one better), green, red and blue Camaros.:)

I have a red one, a blue one, and my favorite, a black one. I just can't bring myself to sell any of them. :) I've only driven the black one, it was my first. I had a Camaro back in the day and just love them. I was devastated to find out that Chevy discontinued production of them.
I've also raced against a green and white one.

Are you sure? Seems like there was just the green-and-white one, as I recall.

No. I had the red-and-white one in GT3. In GT3 there were also 4 different colours for the Camaro, the same colours as in GT4.:)

I just won my first, and it's blue over white...

umm, that said, any suggestions what races this car is good for?

I tried the top American event on New York, just to see how it handled and what it had for power, stock, and it seemed a bit out classed. It does handle nicely though, I could see it at Infineon or Laguna maybe...

I'm pretty sure that you can win the series with it stock. You just have to make sure to take really good lines.

Add a little power and you can walk away with the gold.

Has to be one of my favorite LM cars. That and the Ford GT LM Spec II.

The Camaro LM is by far my favourite car in the game and the car I use the most with over 20+ thousand kilometers by me driving.

Colors - Red, Blue, Black, Green.

I like the Green one, its my favourite. Here is a pic.

Nice. I must say I miss this. Back in the days of good old GT(1) I drove just about any high paced race in my FTO race car (can't remember the full name). Now, with 218 cars and counting to choose from, I don't have a favourite anymore. I do have cars I like very much, but I'll probably never hit the 20.000 km.

The closest thing to my favourite would be my fully tuned
Suzuki GSX-R/4. :)

edit:[/] oops, kind of off topic, sorry. On topic: I have a black one and would like another colour.

It's good for all kind of races. One of the few Fantasy LM cars that I drive. I have a really cool Red one.

You really think so? I find it to be just about as fast (if not faster) than the Viper GTS-R Team Oreca. I think it's one of the most balanced cars in the game.

I ran the stock Camaro racecar through the All American Championship, and it was a breeze with margins from 2 to 7 seconds. The only exception was the New York race, where I lost by about 7 seconds to the Panoz GTR-1 the first time through. I reran that race, still stock, and the next field did not include the Panoz. I breezed past the Ford GT racer with a 7 second margin.

Yes, I ran just the one race , to get t he feel of the car, and ended up third first time out. 2nd place was an esperante', and 1rst was so far ahead, I didn't even look. I'm thinking I might tinker with the gear ratios a little and revisit that one.

Well yes, that is only my personal opinion. It does handle better than many others by means of its cornering attitude, uneven surface behaviour and sprint capacities. However it is not really a best choice from what I feel. I drove this car many events including at GT3.

But excuse me if I disagree with you and say so; the Team Oreca Viper is among the top ten of any GT game 1,2,3 or 4 from my point of view. I could not get it yet and will check what event I can grab it from. I love that car...

If you like that car a lot, I would suggest you try it fro drifting. It gives you fantastic tailswing and sideways drag. I need to find the settings I jotted down about a year ago to tell you exactly though. But they are more or less the same with any drifter...

Good luck...👍

I love the Camaro Racecar, I wanted the black one, so I kept cursing when I won the green one (least favourite colour).

It reminds me of the Ford Falcon XR8, they both seem extremelly similar cars.

My Camaro LM is down to its last hp legs, as far as I remember its lower than 620. What is yours at?

The GTR-1 is a blindingly fast car lol. Out of the box isn't it around 750 or 795hp?

The Ford Falcon XR8. What a quick car. Aussie V8's are great. To be back on topic, I think that it is a very good car, whatever the colour.

Ok, valid reasons to disagree with our opinons, I agree with the fact that it isn't good for every race and it isn't my top pick either.

The ORECA can't be won. I'm pretty sure you can drive it in Arcade mode from the start, and it is awesome to drive. Very well mannered, but still has a helluva lotta power in it. One of my favorites too

Never tried drifting the Camaro LM though...

I never fully max out my race cars.

Only for top speed runs for me, then I strip them back down.

Unless you do Lightweight stages, Port Polish, Displacement up, Engine Balancing, Increase Rigidity, or Rigidity Refurbesher Plan (I think I got them all). Those are irreversable.

Mine is stock+oil and far as I remember at some 510 to 520 HP. I did not give it the NA mods yet. I do not plan to unless I come across the need either. It should be 490 HP stock if my old and poor jelly brain is not misleading me...

That is real bad news... I would have loved to put up a good one against the rest in the extreme hall behind the Oreca's wheel...

I'm sure you would laugh at this but I tried to drift even the F-1 ! and guess what, when you ruin the settings it proves to be a real twitchy thing. It has nothing to do with the "leach" which sticks to the road and becomes even twitchier than the maxed out Cerbera Speed 12 !

I am not a drifter, and I will be cursed if I did it with either car.

Quote from Modik - "Mine is stock+oil and far as I remember at some 510 to 520 HP. I did not give it the NA mods yet. I do not plan to unless I come across the need either. It should be 490 HP stock if my old and poor jelly brain is not misleading me"...

Are you sure? LOL

Mine has over 20,000km and its a little lower than 620.

Man, what am I thinking? Must be a different car you people are talking about. I always considered this car a slug. Still do. Slightly worse than the Corvette C5R, but a fair bit better than the Gillet Vertigo. Cars are a matter of taste so I'm not laughing at anyone's opinion or choice of vehicles to like. It's just that this car is always used as fodder in AI racing. I thought the Camaro LM Race Car was the American racing vehicle's bottom feeder. The Viper Race Car is at least two times more useful. Am I wrong?
