Cameras that shoot 60FPS movies in HD

What kind of camera are you after?

The Gopro white can record 720p at 60fps
The Gopro silver can record at 1080p at 60fps and can record 720p at 120fps
The Gopro black can record at 1080p at 60fps and can record 720p at 120fps

As for camcorders I do not know much about them.

Compact.

Check out panasonics, jvc and sony's websites.
There would be more brands but these are the ones I can think of and look at the camera you like and its specs

A bit of amateur filming and pictures, mainly for some slow-mo effects.

Ah. Porn.... :D

(Like I'm the ONLY one that thought that when they read it!!!!)

Seriously, in my mind still cameras make lousy video cameras. Some of the dSLRs are approaching usefulness, but for video, get a video camera. Stills have limits in video, especially focusing, and they also usually have a file-size limit which effectively limits clips to a few minutes or so. (For porn, that's probably OK. Yeah, I couldn't stay serious.)

Eh, dSLRs are pretty amazing for the price and lens options, at least in the Canon family. The mirrorless options are better for compact platforms, and my EOS M has proved to be quite good at 720p 60fps video work, along with cheap and easy access to legacy glass with nice throws on the focus rings.

Mirrorless are great units... and they take decent video, especially if you have good lenses. But they're quite limited as videocameras, and file-size limits mean that you have to get creative while shooting.

GoPros have a few niggling problems: Poor battery life, the sound still isn't great, and there's no onboard screen.

The cheapest 3's are just outside your given budget (maybe ordering direct from the US, they won't be), and getting the bacpac screen or external mic attachment puts it further out.

But other than that... they are awesome video cameras. Ultra-wide angle lens (can be cropped to regular via onboard menu), can shoot continuous (as long as the battery lasts... one hour continuous is possible on a well-charged battery) and they're tough as hell. Mine just fell off a car at 80 km/h and all that happened was my case got a bit scuffed. I've taken it swimming, driving and it's been up in the air. Love it. Charging it is still a pain. I use an iPad charger (one that charges via the iPad USB adapter... I just plug the GoPro USB adapter into the brick, instead) as it works better than charging via laptop USB.

Errh... don't expect them to survive falls from a hundred feet (for example, if your quadcopter battery dies mid-air) without the case on...

Also... expansion:

If you will be aiming to do anything filmic, 24fps capability would be highly recommended. People doing stuff at 60fps tend to look very silly unless it's meant to be doco style. However it is also very do-able to drop the frame rate at the editing stage.

Hmm... And what if I was looking for a camera that could record at 25 or 30 FPS in 720p on a super low budget?
Note: NO variable frame rates, I've tried some really nice looking phone cameras but they all record with variable frame rates, and I can't use the footage for anything then.

Edit: for what I need to do, I may very well just get a decent webcam.
