Ok first I'd like to say that if you are only able to get 3:05's that is mainly going to be down to your driving skills, No offence, please dont feel offended.
2nd, Have a look at the 1st thread in the Tuning Forum (Every GTPlanet Tune That Exists is in this thread) There will be a few setups there that you will be able to take the Suspenion, LSD and Transmission settings from. This should help you shave a few seconds off your laptime.
Mostly its going to be down to your driving though, keep practicing and you will get it.
Remember slow-in fast-out and you should get gold with ease.

I understand what your saying I race road course motorcylces, so it all makes sence, I know all to much about slow is fast thats burned into my brain, right now I have a screwed up left hand and have to use the controler (which for racing im not that great at) which doesnt help vs the wheel. I know if I could use the wheel I could do it for sure its just to hard on my hand.

I done it in a Corvette, the first car I tried was the Callaway but that had terrible understeer.
@ Prix
If you are still havving trouble, Purchase the Rear Wing, and add full downforce. Purchase all drivetrain mods, the FC Transmission and the FC Suspension. Then use the Power Limiter to reach 500pp. You should have a good chance of getting gold that way.
