At the bottom of this page is all the GTPlanet avatar information.

To do that you can go to the site and right click on the picture you want. Click on properties. Then get that url. Go to your MY GTPLANET, edit options and down to avatar. Hit change avatar. Enter the URL there.

Or you can save it to your hardrive as a gif. The go to MY GTPLANET, edit optiong and down to avatar. Hit change avatar and then look for the browse button to find it on file.

Thanx a lot u guys. A few days ago I went on a search to find a good pic of a Ferrari F50 to use as my avatar. I found a nice silver one, one of the best I've ever seen, but sadly, it wasn't small enough to fit as an avatar. :( I went and looked at some more pics of other cars when I noticed that NONE of them were small enough, so I just gave up. Thanks anyway though for helping a n00b out.

You will rarely ever find one the right size. The maximum file size is 26 kilobytes, and the max image size is 75 pixels by 75 pixels. It can be a jpg or a gif, animated or not. If you point us to where that silver F50 is I'm sure someone here can make something for you (:

Hi Fury, welcome to GTPlanet! :) Just because an image isn't the right size, doesn't mean it can't be cropped and edited with a little work by one of our avatar experts. Anything is possible! :D

Try this one:

Ok. Much, much thanks Pako and all the others who've helped me and told me what to do. There's only one problem though. I get this message when I try to use the avatar:

"The uploaded file is not a valid GIF or JPG file. Please ensure that it is and try again."

What else do I need to do for it to work? Because honestly, I haven't a clue what that means.

Sorry about that, Fury, but this is a problem the whole forums is experiencing right now. I will have it fixed as soon as I can. :)

OK, I think (hope) this has been fixed. Please give another shot at uploading it and let me know what happens. :)

Nope, it said the same thing. But wait a minute. You said "try uploading it". Do I need to do anything special to get it to work, because all I'm doing right now is just putting in the URL in the address box.

Oh, OK, I think I know what's going on here... ;) Just follow these instructions below:

  1. Click here to view the avatar Pako made for you.
  2. Put your cursor over the image, right-click it, and select "Save Picture As...". In the window that opens, save the file somewhere on your computer and take note of it's location (I would recommend saving it on your desktop).
  3. Now, go to this page and scroll down to the bottom where it says "You can upload an avatar from your computer:". In the box to the right of that, click the "Browse..." button, and go to the location where you saved the avatar. Once you've selected it, click on "Open", and then "Submit Modifications" at the bottom of that page.
[/list=1]That's it! Let me know if you need any help with those instructions, and if you experience any other problems using that method it's most likely a server issue that I'll need to fix (just make sure to tell me about it ASAP)! :)
