hey everyone. i dont really know how to make videos, and im not too good at making record times.
so i wonder, does anyone has GTR2 and could make a comparison video of GT4 vs GTR2? i know there is a BMW GTR in both games, it would be great to compare 2 racing cars ( or more) from those 2 games side by side... it would be great to see them in Nurburgring. I would like to see how each game takes different approaches in sim... I know GT4 is not 100% sim, and GTR2 is not 100% either. but which one is better?
and please dont do videos on damage or stuff like that.. i just wanna see pure racing side by side. :)
thanks :)

No vid, but I will say this: GTR2 is a good bit more realistic than GT4.

And with the Power And Glory mod, it's awesome to drop the clutch in a 289 Falcon, let the tires spin and the car get a little sideways.

:D

As Rotary Junkie said, it doesn't take a video to see that the difference in realism between the two games is quite large. GTR2 covers all sorts of details that GT4 couldn't even begin to replicate -- in the physics and also elsewhere -- and in terms of the things that both games simulate, GTR2 is far more accurate (for example, I probably don't need to tell you that GT4's tire wear is way, way off).

Even still, GTR2 isn't top dog in the simulation world. Depending on who you talk to, that title belongs to either Live for Speed (the absolute most realistic physics you can find today, IMO) or rFactor (same basic engine as GTR2, but more flexible and designed for mods).

Anyway, to answer your original question, I myself have made comparison videos before (which have gained a marginal degree of notoriety on YouTube), but I don't own a copy of GTR2 and I don't have an effective way to record PC games. Sorry.

ive been playing some Rfactor today, its more real feel then GT4, but some aspects of GT4 are really good too. and its a older game as well.
but what i mean is i wanna see how each game approaches turns.. does one break quicker then the other.. does one make a faster turn and still handle well? hmm i guess a better comparison would be GT5 vs those PC games since GT5 suppose to have better physics.

It's difficult to get useful information out of a numerical analysis like the one you're describing.

Take the Nürburgring for example -- do the game's laptimes match real life because it's realistic? Or are they too slow because the average gamer can pull off laptimes that match professional runs? Could that be caused by the lack of fear, something else, or both? What if the laptimes are too fast because the virtual lap was on tires labelled "economy" and the real lap was on high-performance summer tires? What does Polyphony Digital consider to be an "economy" tire? What if the track is too small, making it shorter but making the corners tighter and slower, thus keeping the laptime the same? What if the track is too big and the corners are faster (*cough*PGR and Forza*cough*)? What does it mean if the game's laptime for a certain car is significantly different from the real deal?

There are too many questions for quantitative measurements to be taken at face value, which is why physics talk around here usually revolves around how a game "feels." At best, you can use accurate-looking numbers to back up a sim that already feels "right."
