Hemispheric. this name was due to the shape the valves had, or something like that.

What he said. It had to do with shape of the combustion chamber. Mopar has been building Hemi engines for many years.
The most Famous was the 426Hemi.

Yeah, what Gil said. The Charger in Fast and Furious was a 426 cubic inch Hemi, and would probably make about 900-1100 horsepower supercharged like that and burning 94 octane pump gas - no nitrous.

A race-built, 500+ cubic inch version of the same engine, burning nitro methane, will make about 5500 horsepower.

I got yer Skyline right here, pal... :smilewink

It has a hemi-spherical combustion chamber. It has a higher compression ratio and doesn't use as much fuel and provides quite a significant amount of extra hp/fuel consumption boost. Honda D Seies engines have a Semi-Hemi i.e. 1984-95 Civic's and CRX's.

I don't know all the details, just basically relaying the info that other people have told me.

but what does the EMI stand for

and how much HP is in the 2003 dodge pickups that have it

and what is better the cummins or the hemi for that truck

I onced owned a Plymouth Grand Fury with one of those engines in 440 cubic inch trim. (70s Ex-police car). My first car. Almost lost my license with it, too.
