I hope that Polyphony digital will take license for 24 hour Le Mans race??? They got WRC and NASCAR so I hope for Le mans...đź’ˇ

Im pretty sure there will be 24 hour endurance at la sarthe...however,weather the cars are going to be the proper LMP cars or not is another matter, along with will the lighting change from day to night then back to day.........

Yes this is the one thing that annoys me with race series. If we are going to do a proper Le Mans race, we need the proper cars, with appropriate classes, LMP and GT. So if you wanted to compete in this race with a GT car, you are already aware that you are competing in the GT class and not racing against the LMP's. It would be great, 8 LMPs on track and 8 GTs on track at the same time. Here's to hoping.

Man, getting that morning rain at 1 in the morning would be perfect. Getting in cockpit view, the rain hitting the Peugot rather small window-shield, the one wiper up on top wiping it away, the headlights displaying the rain- the lights hitting certain points on the track- ahhhhhhhh

If they made one $60 dollar game just for the 24H LeMans w/ day/night cycle and rain- I'd buy it right now.

I dont think 16 cars would be enough for Le Mans, we're still to see a proper Le Mans sim with 55 car grid and 4 class, PD are well capable of doing it, and I think that the should be the ones who the ACO (Arristocratic Cheap Organisation) get to pull out an official game, the old game on ps2 was horrendous

Agreed. Rather annoying to start that endurance & see cars from all over....

Then i guess your are going to need fifteen friends to race with.

...it should really be 48.

I'd love to see the proper practice > quali > race cycle in effect.

Practice and Quali where you have to do 5 laps at night to qualify and be in the top 48 out of 55, as well as this they should have an equivalency system in the case that you enter a car that doesnt comply to lmp/group c/gt1/gt2/gtp/ngt/gts

So for example;

Lmp1: LMP1, LMP900, GTP(including GT1 98-99), WSC, Group C Ct. I, C90, IMSA GTP (pre 1993), S2.0

Lmp2: LMP2, LM675, Group C Ct. II, IMSA GTP (current era)

GT1: GT1, GTS, IMSA GTS, IMSA GTX, GTP 3.0

GT2: GT2, NGT, GT, Group B, GTO, IMSA GTO

I think it's pretty sure there will be a return of a 24 hour race at the Le Sarthe track in GT5. But there will be no official license for the race.

I know how people feel about GRID although the version of La Sarthe in the game was atrocious, but the sunset and especially the sunrise when you're in the Audi R10 are just phenomenal and you do race according to four different classes- LMP1+2 and GT1+2. If we could get day/night cycle at just La Sarthe and the Nurburgring Nordschleife (the 25k combined GP and old course) in GT5, it would be enough for me.

How do you know Polyphony is capable of doing it? The most cars they can manage at one time now is 16, thats a far cry from 55.

There's no way we're seeing an increase in grid sizes from 16, they would have to really cut the graphics back and cut thousands of polys from each car model and probably re-do thier entire LOD system to make 20 cars work, let along 55 and numbers in that region.

If it was in GT4 it'll be in GT5. Altough it was called "24h of La Sarthe" or something like that. Having the license to "Le Mans" would be nice đź‘Ť.

There'll be a race at Sarthe, no doubt, but if GT5 is gonna have a lot of licensed LM racers is anyone's guess.

i think 6 lmp1's and 10 gt1's would be perfect. ya im gonna agree as well. day/night cycle at le sarth, and the ring is all i need. i would like every track just because but ya. i would be a lot less worried about gt5 if they just came out and told us everything, i know a lot of people are going to be against this, but it would help all of this wishful thinking :-/ heres to day and night cycle. (weather is gonna happen, but i doubt it will be dynamic)

I would love to be able to do a full LeMans race but i doubt they will be able to fit the amount of cars :(

And if they did they would need all the sponsors, classes etc..

I would be happy if they had the FIA GT championship

I agree with you:tup:

I not since I no longer the have time to devote to such long races. The same goes for the long endurances in GT4.

I was thinking about a adaptive grid to cope with effects.

The game starts with a grid of 16 in ideal conditions.

The player gets to the halfway point around the track, another 4 cars leave the pits (technical issues from qualy...).

With the field spread the game engine will not have to render anywhere near the full grid at once like it does the start, then as the day/night cycle kicks and and weather effects happen a number of cars get shut away in the pits to help keep the framerate high.

Damage and mechanical faults are a large part of enduro racing with many cars losing hours of running, why not use those issues to help control a framerate one?

As long as the cars that the AI uses to buff the numbers are not the ones the player is directly involved with then what harm is there? Cars crash out in racing all the time so why not use that and the 'repairs' incurred to get high poly models off the track whe nthey are not required.
