Can you answer a couple of questions for?

Ok, not on here alot, but have looked for a couple fo these answers but found little luck.

1. Will there be actual drag racing in gt6?

2. Will there be caution flags?

3. Will there be spec racing?

4. Will there be series racing like say v8 super cars?

Thanks for any help.

1. No one of us knows as nothing regarding drag racing has been announced. You're safe if you take this as "nope"
2. Sames as 1.
3. On gran-turismo.com B-spec has to be announced to come in a later update
2. Sames as 1.

Everything officially confirmed can be found on gran-turismo.com - the official website.

1. Will there be actual drag racing in gt6? All tracks for release have been announced and didn't include a drag track and there's been no mention of this feature.

2. Will there be caution flags? Hasn't been announced but it's possible it might be there, no one can say at this point.

3. Will there be spec racing? "Spec Racing" has several meanings. There is already tuning prohibited racing online in GT5 and there is one-make racing through the recommended garage. There are also options for host to limit cars to specific types or manufacturers, like GT500 or Ferrari for example.

4. Will there be series racing like say v8 super cars? V8 Supercars specifically? The entire car list hasn't been released but there has been nothing so far to suggest that Aussie V8's (outside the one in GT5) and the like are included. Other series yes. GT500, GT300, GT3, LMP etc are all in GT6 to some degree, GT300/500 being the best represented.

Well, shoot. Thanks for the replies, really hoping some sort of drag racing was going to be in there.

I would like to see some type of spec racing where you could do nothing to the car but drive it.
No tuning, no suspension settings, nothing. So everybody is in the same type of car and the winner is just flat out the better driver.

There's not going to be a dedicated Drag track in GT anytime soon, until then there's Special Stage Route X (which is now in as standard and not as DLC) as well as an old favourite SSR7, these will most likely be the more popular tracks where you will do Drag racing. It may be easier to access online in GT6 with the revamp, but I can't say, they've gone more for Drift online and TT's with the ability to set up drift trials and TT's onine.

In GT5 already, WRS regularly feature tuning prohibited races and TT's. And online, it's known as Recommended Garage like @Johnnypenso said.

No official info on any of those points.

So far the only way to do all of them is the same as in GT5: community hosted races, with its own rules.

Personally I'd love to see one-make races as in point #3, with all cars available, no tuning whatsoever (even tires and suspension) and hopefully that settings allow to forbid certain assists that aren't in the GT5 options, such as the hud gear indicator (that is sort of a racing line).

I would love to see "tuning prohibited" actually mean tuning prohibited. Currently in GT5, you can adjust brake bias, limit power, and change the torque split if the car has it in stock form. All of these items are tuning so why can you change them and still enter a "tuning prohibited" race?

Because GT5 screwed up the Brake Balance in so many cars by having them default in every one. So I think even if you restricted brake balance then it still would not be completely "spec" racing either.

That doesn't do anything to explain why tuning would be allowed in a "tuning prohibited" race. It doesn't matter what any setting is, if tuning is prohibited then everyone should be running the same settings. Spec racing is the same car prepared the same way. A "tuning prohibited" setting should allow for this without exception.

The ideal situation would be to allow a room host to provide a set up and force all drivers to use it. This would allow us to fix some of the terrible settings that we get as stock settings from PD. The rear toe of most cars comes to mind here as well as the brake balance.

You also forget that most of the "settings" that you mention can be accessed and adjusted mid-race via a menu-option. If that was considered tuning, then why was that programmed into the game?

And that menu option should be disabled if it's a "tuning prohibited" room. If you're running in a room with TCS turned off, you're not allowed to adjust it via the mid-race option. You can't adjust aero on cars that have it stock and enter a "tuning prohibited" room so why should you be allowed to adjust anything else on the car. There is no reason, other than PD screwed it up, to allow any adjustments to the car for a "tuning prohibited" room.

Many people will tell you that brake balance and torque adjustment is not tuning, it's just personal preference. So there will be many people who will disagree with you about that. As for ballast, there are realists who add their own weight to a car, so that's not exactly tuning, more reducing the performance of the car, same with engine detuning with the limiter.

But horses for courses, I guess. What we have in GT5, will no doubt be what we have in GT6, whether they've tweaked it to your liking or not, nobody can say until December 6th.

Any time you change anything on the car, it's tuning plain and simple. If what you say held water, I would simply say my personal preference is to have an extra 100 HP and twice the down force. It's only my personal preference so it's not tuning. How moronic does that sound? It's the same as saying, "I want to run a higher brake balance number to increase my braking power and move my brake point further into the corner."

If room hosts want to allow drivers to make changes based to the car then tuning is allowed. If a room host wants to have a true spec race, then the "tuning prohibited" option should allow for that and it does not in GT5.

Let me repeat, because it's an answer to your question whether you agree with me or not it's all we know:

I never asked if it would be added or changed for GT6. I made a statement about what I would like to see and you began trying to tell me why adjusting brake balance wasn't in fact tuning. I understand that we won't know anything about this until the game comes out. I merely have a desire to see it done this way. I know my desire means nothing to PD. The part I don't understand is why people out there, such as yourself, think that adjusting certain settings on the car should not be considered tuning. Any time you adjust anything on the car, it is tuning. It's not hard to understand but PD let a few items slip through the cracks. I would like to see it fixed and I will find out if it is fixed when I get my hands on the game, no sooner.

Thanks for any help.

I simply stated that what we have in GT5 will probably be in GT6, but anything more than that is unknown. I was answering your question, that's all, no need for a debate on what tuning is/isn't.

You might want to read what you just quoted. You will notice you quoted two different people. I am not Dragnframe. This can be confirmed by reading my username.

You have the same avatar, so I got confused. That's not strictly your fault, but more of a GTPlanet thing.

ENGINE LIMITER: Realistically, allowing engine limiting is very useful in GT5 tuning prohibited races so that different cars can be run together.

BRAKE BALANCE: It is useful for brake balance to adjusted too in case people want to have ABS off in which case 5/5 tends to be too severe.

A couple of examples of multicar tuning prohibited races I have taken part in using this

A premium EVO Vs IMPREZA Race at 465pp - tuning prohibited allowed a degree of levelling
A Ferrari Road Car race @ 529pp which allowed all of them bar the 512BB to compete pretty well.

This:tup: The alterations allowed with the "no tuning" option are basically comprimises that allow as many cars to run together as possible without altering their basic character. If you don't allow these comprimises, you're stuck with whatever you have when you enter a lobby and if you don't come close to the "no tuning" regs, you're crap out of luck.

I hope there are cautions in GT6. At least in the longer races or endurance races. That would add to the realism... I'm also of no real help since I've got no answers.. to anything.

Its pretty poor form for PD not to add something so simple as a drag strip that is so clearly welcomed by online players.

Yes you got quarter mile run on SSRX but nothing with a Christmas tree in the middle of 2 lanes, agreed this needs to be addressed.
