Hey guys today i ran into a problem with my Gt5. I loaded up the game the first time and it got stuck on "Gran Turismo 5 Driving Simulator" logo and then i exited to the xmb. I tried it again and the same thing happened! I tried it for a third time then it go to the main menu of the game but, i couldn't press buttons and the yellow cursor was missing(but the in the background was working), so i waited then i went to the xmb. I tried it for the 4th time and it happened again but it got stuck on the "Gran Turismo 5 Driving Simulator again" at this time i was so upset because i have just bought my self a Bentley Speed 8 yesterday and know i can't play GT5 :ouch:! So i kept trying it over and over again and still it didn't load. So i tried it without my internet and it worked like a beauty but, i wanted to play online and it wouldn't let me, so i signed in then still it wouldn't play so i went back to the xmb to try it again but, it got stuck again on the main menu! So can anyone help me out here? And can exiting to the xmb harm my PS3(80gb fatty without card readers)? At this point im being paranoid that i can't play this game anymore:nervous:.

Thanks for any help
love,

There have been several posts about this kinda stuff going on. And I believe you're probably correct, it might be internet based. I only started going online a few weeks ago and I have the same trouble of loading up the first main menu where you select the Arcade or whatever modes you want and there being no yellow arrow to move.

I disconnect and it works fine. So I think it has to be coming through the internet that is causing some sort of glitch. Can't imagine what, but that's my only thought.

Could this sort of thing harm my PS3 and do you think it will work tomorrow if i decide to play online?

I had the exact same problem but it seems it has sorted its self out.
I also think it's internet related as mine loaded fine when I was offline.
No idea what it is or how to solve it but hopefully your Ps is like mine and can fix itslef :)

I hope so too :(

This may be a network related problem. You might be experiencing a problem trying to connect to the GT5 servers. Try signing out of PSN and loading the game signed out.

If the former is not the case, then your data may be currupted (game data, not save data).

I too have been having problems like this, now i just start the game then sign in to the PSN, seems to work fine now.

The game is trying to connect to the GT5 servers so if you have slow net like I do it takes a while but for the last few days the PSN servers have been a bit funny after some guy aperantly publicly hack the PS3 and PSN coding.

I had this problem too. I deleted game data and after that GT5 worked perfectly.

It should not harm your PS3. I've had the problem before. Waited almost 5+ minutes before it would finally load correctly. You can either give it more time (wait and wait) or try it again in a couple hours (or days depending on where the connection is getting lost).

I have had this two times before, and I would agree it would be net based, as the times it happened to me our internet was not working well. Ive also had times where I can not log in to the gt5 servers as well it sticks at the main screen showing whatever car Im in
