The reason i ask is because i suffered with gout sometimes and have it at the moment. And white pasta is no good because it causes weight gain.Because of the increase in weight uric acid produced in the body increases and the kidneys can't flush it out, so causes a gout attack. So need to know which types and names of pasta you can list here.I am seeing a dietician at the moment and exercising a bit but need to choose more portions and stick with the right amounts, with the food.

I am trying to get a healthy balanced diet, without causing any future health problems. So can anybody give us a hand please. It would be greatly apprieciated.

Cheers Nath.

Here's the list of Pastas on Wikipedia, while I'm at it. It's fairly detailed.

Types of pasta has nothing to do with gout. It's all made from the same thing. Are you looking for wheat noodles (pasta) vs rice noodles vs potato dumplings, etc?

Pasta doesn't cause weight gain. Eating a pound of pasta at a time does.

Here, I'm going to save you a bunch of money on a dietician: Eat 70% vegetables, 20% starch like rice or pasta, and 10% protein.

White pasta, white bread, white rice, cakes and buscuits can increase the chances of type 2 diabetes.

Correct the right pasta and amount of pasta plus exercise won't cause weight gain.

 Type 2 diabetes causes type 2 diabetes. There are plenty of resources out there to figure out what a proper portion is, etc.

So... don't eat white pasta. My wife can't have gluten so we've started using corn (not very good, IMO) and black bean (quite tasty and has bonus protein). I'd look in to those if you're anti-white.

Sorry Omnis, my intentions were to let people know about gout, to make them aware that they could have it.Lot's of things cause gout but we'd be here all day.

Thanks for editing your post. Gout sucks, no doubt. I just don't see how pastas have a significant effect on gout. Yes, being overweight can incidence of gout attacks, but that's because people that are overweight ten to eat a lot. And a lot can include foods known to worsen gout.

If you want to make this thread about gout management or discuss the merits of a low-purine diet, that's fine. I would suggest a title change.

And if your gout is really bad talk to your doc about getting on allopurinol or another uricosuric.

Ok mate i will make a thread about that at sometime cheers. There are many things that annoy me and one of them is having to choose between good and bad food.Basically having to read the ingrediants, so that i know i won't get gout.So i think it's about time we had a change in the food & drink industry. All food & drink should be good food & drink.
