Can you reduce maximum revs?

Raise the final gear in the transmission. That way it will shift same time, but take longer to get there. Also lower the LSD first two options as they speed up how fast it accelerates meaning it will red line quicker the higher they are.

I think what you mean is changing the engine map (which you cant), I guess . Adding the Sports ECU is all you can do in that category. Its a shame as it would be useful sometimes.

You can adjust the gearbox if you want shorter or longer gearing. Or you can switch from a high rpm turbo to a low rpm turbo or vice versa.

I use the power graph in the car settings page , it gives you a good idea what to tune (or detune in your case) in regards to power delivery.

Im still not 100% sure what you mean , if you mean redline at 5500rpm instead of 7500rpm I dont think so. Still have you tried a 6 speed close ratio gearbox ?

Both suggestions don't make sense at all.

Replying to the OP: no, you can't in GT5.
EDIT: at least not directly. As mentioned by bigberry, some parts increase max rpm, if you remove them you can lower it indirectly.

You can't make it shift at 6000rpm if it goes to 8000rpm other than obviously shifting early lol, but you can slow down how fast the car gets to 8000rpm. Those ways are what I said to do.

I'm talking about reducing the maximum rev limit on the car, not gear ratios or when to change.

Ie reducing the rev limiter on a car from 8500rpm to 7000rpm.

As bilberry says, I don't think it's possible, but wanted to ask as it's not something I've ever wanted to do before.

FYI I'm trying to turn the 04 WRX Spec C into a UK WRX PPP. I've had to dial out 6th gear and have the ratios pretty well set to match my real life car. I don't thing reducing the rev limiter is an option, so now I just need to work out how to flatten the torque curve and add 0.3sec to the 0-100mph time.

Nothing to do with RPM , but regarding the 0.3 secs.

Have you thought of ballast?

I'm at the right weight for my car, but you started me thinking about driver weight, which might make the difference, worth a separate thread I think.

No you can't reduce the maximum rev limit directly. Only by doing what the others have told you. If your max rev limit is 8000 RPM you can't go and set the rev limiter to 6000 RPM.

Well, not exactly. If your car is maxed out, removing the exhaust and turbo mods should bring the redline down. Other things that also bring it down are the permanent engine mods. But they won't bring it down 2000 RPM.

Are this the specs of the car ?

Impreza WRX
Engine 2.0L H4 Turbo DOHC 16 valves
HP (hp@rpm) 227 @ 6000
Torque (lb.ft@rpm) 217 @ 4000
Drivetrain All-wheel drive
Transmission 5 speed manual

I knew it the second I saw the thread. ;) BTW, it's '05.
And no, as others said, you can't lower a stock engine's rpm.
You can add a high rpm turbo, which helps raise the powerband in this car very well, I have a tune coming out soon of one not RM'd. ;)

Edit: ok, the top tip for simulating real life is "shift at the real life shift point". Unless you're trying to "simulate" using automatic with a manual gearbox?
