Honestly, I didn't expect that to happen. He's an excellent defender don't get me wrong, but I thought someone else would get the Golden Ball award.

Many people have criticized this decision of handing him the honor. Players like Buffon, Drogba, E'to, Henry and others, would have been great winners as well.
Plus the fact that he was with a corrupt team for years, didn't make this awarding look very well through football fans eyes.

Anyway, I feel proud and happy for him, and even though I feel he should be with an Italian team right now *cough*Milan*cough*, I hope he shows the Spaniards that he is a great asset to Real Madrid's team and that this award is not going to be too heavy on his back. 👍

It's a shame that Cannavaro has kinda failed to live up to expectations at Madrid realy. He's been pretty crappy, but I can't think of a single good real madrid centerback anyway.

Well, maybe he hasn't lived up to EVERYONE'S expectations, but for Real, he's been a blessing to them. Helguera is slipping, Gago, Ramos and Bravo are relying on what he does pretty much, iono about Ramos 'cause he's usually defending the right lane, but Cannavaro is always there to kill a counter attack or a dangerous offensive play.

Honestly, I don't where Real would be right now without Cannavaro and Casillas.
