Cannot Decide Which Seat to Get

So I have been debating which seat I should pull the trigger on to enhance my Forza experience. Right now I am using what is basically a pvc tv tray I made and then I sit on my couch. The choices I have narrowed it down to are:
-----------------
1) http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005M9BZEY/?tag=gtplanet-20

Pricey, but I have seen it on sale for like 299. I like the fact I can get a gear shifter mount. I don't like the support that blocks my legs.

I like how there are no supports to block legs. I have seen a lot of people using it on these forums. I like the fact i can get a gear shift mount. However the price is a big issue. And I am sure the shipping will not be anything that is pleasant.

3) http://us.fanatec.com/Stand?product_id=555

Probably my favorite choice. I like the amount of position customization. No supports to block legs. Great price. However, my only complaint is I don't like how the shifter position is restricted.

4) I build my own. My only concern is i am planning on moving within a year and I wouldn't like building something i cam going to need power tools to disassemble and reassemble.

Your guys' input and opinions will be greatly appreciated.

Since I enjoy fabrication, I would say design your own. If you have even considered it, you have to have some sort of skill. But if you would rather take the easier route and buy one, I'd say the Fanatec or GTOmega, they both seem small enough and easy enough to disassemble once you move.

Really though, any cockpit on the market will have its pros and cons and you using a TV tray, I'd say an upgrade is a sure thing, no matter which one you choose, LOL.

Good luck and be sure to take some pics and share once you decide!

I would go with GTOmega it looks good & the price is alright... I'm a Rseat fan myself but I haven't made the leap yet, (waiting for a price drop) building your own would be cool especially if you use 80/20 tubing... I thought about it but I don't have the time or skill for such a task. Lol

Looking for an opinion? Koolness. Just remember...opinions are like you know what----everybody has one. This being said, here's mine. Build one. That way, your in control of proper fitment, hardware location, ect. ect.

Mine was under 200 to build. That's with the 8 way electric Lexus Leather seat w/lumbar support of course. Cant buy a ready built rig this comfy. Just a thought. Yes, it doesn't have an 8 way seat belt, but it is 8 way electric... lol. After the first few runs I decided I didn't need the seat belt or shoulder harness and removed them...hehe. I DID save them. I'm considering a few pieces from a few electric wheelchairs and maybe make something that WILL require being secured to your seating but that story is for another day. Good luck in your decision:)

I have seen your seat before. Very jealous. My problem right now is I really want to limit what I need to pack when I move. I know I could take apart and reconstruct. Have you had to relocate your home built rig?

Hmmm.... Sort of. I built the main unit in my shop. I even took into consideration the width of the doorway into the house and having a few sons with strong backs for help. What I didn't consider was the hard right into the office and the overall length of the unit where a wall prevented entry. This being said, every piece was pre-drilled and put together with sheet rock screws which makes it pretty easy to dismantle. I took a few pieces off and squeezed it in. I can say this. I'm 51 and have sit in every conceivable manner in front of a computer monitor, attempting to find some form of comfort and never and I repeat never have I been more comfortable sitting for hours on end. Just being able to adjust the seating to not just close...but perfection was worth the effort. Frankly, at this stage of the game I don't know why I went so long without a solution. Good luck in your decision and be sure and chime in with your decision!
