Hi,
I’ve tried this challenge for over a week and the closest I got was 1:50:900 - so close but so frustrating!

Need some advice and clarification from some experts here, because I’m getting so mixed up with all the different ways of trying this.

I’ve set the TCS to 2, any lower and I’d spin out.

I tried removing the ASM, I felt that I was a little faster, but less controlled and I’d end up spinning out.

On the course itself:

Do the rumble strips slow down the car to a point where I’m faster if I avoid driving on them? I don’t know if it’s my imagination or not, but it seems like my speed remains the same until I get back on the pavement.

Braking: is it better to use the brake before heading into the series of “S” curves (that brief downhill portion before the uphill climb). I have tried different methods- braking briefly to line me up or coasting while in a controlled skid. Which is ultimately better off?

I’ve heard that you lose more speed while skidding as opposed to briefly braking. Is that true?

I have the “Brake” indicator on while I am driving. Do you follow the braking advice or try to use “late braking” to keep the speed up momentarily? That first hard turn seems to flash brake earlier than I would normally brake. Am I missing something there?

Sorry for the long post - I’m trying so many different approaches now that I’m getting mixed up on the best methods and would like some advice.

The worst thing is during and great run, sometimes I would “choke” and totally smash into a barrier at that last hard turn...I would never make it professionally - I get the yips too often.

Thanks

I won't give specific advice as I'm really not a great driver but do 3-4 laps (possibly more) really slow. Take your time and find every racing line for every corner.
When you can drive the track slowly, gradually increase your speed. It's the same way you learn to play difficult/fast things on an instrument.
First do it perfectly at slow pace, then increase the speed.
Good luck!

It’s a tight track and just keeping your pace up should net a gold with practice. The S section is worth a small lean on the brakes before turn in, but don’t drop a gear. Try and hold your momentum using the throttle to balance through the S’es.

The chicane is tricky to hit at 100% consistently. But you can make it through with just a slight lift at turn in. Turn in later than you think you need to and straighten out before you jump back on the throttle..

Practise and practise is the key to getting Gold. Don't use ASM it is no good, use TCS 1 and no more because it only slow you down, I use a wheel and I use TCS 1 but I can change it mid race to 0 because it is faster. Don't forget to watch the video of the last test.

Just to be clear... that's not my video... it's one I found on YT!

Watch this and learn...

Lots of kerbs, try and carry as much speed through the fast sections as possible.

This ^

I watched this one day and when I got home i tried this one again. Still took me quite a few restarts (mostly after the first chicane/s-turns whatever you want to call it) but I got it done. I didn't touch any of the driver aids or vehicle settings, I just went out and did it. The track is very rewarding if you get the right line. If you're on the wrong line, you might as well restart. There is no room for error on this one, which is probably why its the last test...

I use a controller and didn't touch any of the assists. The things I learned to make me faster on this track
  • Dont brake for turn 3, just lift enough to turn in. (That's the right right.) Brake late for turn 4.
  • Tap the brake at turn 5 (first of the esses) just enough to shift weight forward so you can turn in.
  • The bus stop chicane- make the right left flat out. Run up on the curbs. Lift at the flag stand on the right. Flat out thru the left right.
  • Last turn- brake hard and trail brake. I try to hit the apex after the cone. Once you turn in, don't accelerate until you reach the apex.
Hopefully this will help you some. Good luck.

Another 300 km night until I shaved my time down to just .5” off the mark. But, I began to get a better feeling of where I can make my time up and when I should just restart and try again.

Either way, my confidence grew and taking in your tips and advice, it would be just a matter of time before I make gold.

Early this morning, before work, I figured I it give a couple tries. Well, I finally made the mark - 1:49:793!!! A very satisfying feeling to finally complete the goal...now I hope it gets saved to the server....I don’t want to have to go through this again....

Thank you all for the advice-YT is a good tool to visually and listen to the acceleration and braking points. I found this also on YT where he counts seconds after the braking point before he turns into the curve. Plus he narrates while driving.

Here it is if anyone is interested:

Thanks again, maybe see you on the track!

Thanks

you havent managed it yet do the circuit experience fisrt get gold then try it

If you do enough gr4 races at dragon trail. It comes naturally, thats what i did. Left it a few weeks come back, nailed it by 3 seconds and got the 1 second or quicker trophy.

Same more or less the circuit experience really do help. For racing and mission challenges

Man are you late to the party. Not only is this a 4 month old topic that you raised from the dead, the guy even wrote he beat it the next day.
And your point being, or are you thinking youre great attempting to crap on him
