hi, i am not sure if this has been spoken about before, if it has i apologise. i cannot find anyone to race in the expert races online. if i go to the beginner or intermediate races i am able to find people to race, but the most i ever get in expert is one other opponent. i was just wondering if anyone else gets this problem. i live in australia gmt+8 and generally try to race between 11am and 10pm but for the last few months i havnt been able to get a race at all. is it that there is just noone racing these events or what? any help would be appreciated.
 
It's tough sometimes. I'm playing right now in the expert races and I'm only finding one or two people max. It's a weekday though.. can't expect much.
 
Go for weekends and afternoons and evenings... easiest to find people then. During the week, not many people but newbs, punters and bored guys... like us. ;)

I'm from NZ so our time zones are pretty close - i have the same trouble also but only durning the week.
I only race in the pro events - log my name on your PS (GTP_joeninety)and you will see which track i'm racing in my comment box....always a couple of kiwi's somewhere.

I'm from AUS. I have plenty of AU/NZ friends and everyone puts in the event they're running in there comment box. I only race pro events as well. Feel free to add me as well(GTP_mad94d).

It maybe that you host the races and only let 1 other person in. When you are starting the race and the screen of the racers usernames apper, are you the first one in the list?
If so you are host. Also on the screen does it list the whole 12 numbers or just a short list?

This happens to a few here and their connection only lets them host to a few people.

Like others have mentioned , daytime is not a good time , the best races I have encountered have appeared at night , roughly 10:00 - on is when the "good guys" come out , at least here in the states , not so sure about Australia , but good luck out there anyway.

As for hosting, sometimes when I host I can host with like 12 to 16 people others I only have one person. I think I remember racing you the other night pappalcart. If it was just two of us that is. You were in a clio on fuji. And im pretty sure I quit. Sorry about that, nothing to do with the racing, just my frustration of not having many people to race.

Quitting as server is a no-no... see it through to the end!

Okay, boring racing just one or two other guys? For your six or seven minutes of pain, you get much needed practice, a monetary bonus (well... it's nice to get if you don't have an F2007 yet) and some laughs.

I hate it when people dump a race when there are just three or four of us. The server may not want to race, but the rest of us sure do...
 
I appologie for quitting, but I dont see much point in racing one other person. Especially if you are in rather differently matched cars. I would not quit if there is three or more people racing.
I feel I may have been spoiled in the first few months GT5:P was out and was getting 12 to 16 people races all the time.
Not to state the obvious, but we really need private forums.

As most other people have said in this thread, there are many AUS/NZ people that race around the evening to night. Come and join us! We are usually in the chat room and that is mostly how we hook up for racing. Cheers, Nicko
 
It doesn't bother me racing in a small field as I take the approach that I am racing myself anyway.

The only close racing I find is mostly in organised events publicised here on GTP, or for AU drivers on TORCtalk (google it if not familiar).

I find race laps to be different to practice laps (I tend to be more cautious in races) so I set myself sector, lap & race time targets, test markers and corner speeds. I don't mind a solitary drive.... though some of the Euro kids one encounters in the early evening are an absolute pain.

Using WA time on week days you'll find good Euro drivers from 4am till maybe 9am, with some night owls on till noon. Top NZ drivers like Joe90 from 3pm to 8pm (loll though you'll often strike TIZZLAA as late as 9.30pm or even 10pm). AU drivers, you know when we are...... W.A. time? Isn't that the dark ages? lol, couldn't resist.

I might be racing tonight. At the moment I can only connect to races when Tizzla or Animera hosts. Hopefully that changes soon.
 
Hey all. Thanx for the help gettin back into the racing scene. The short bit of racing/getting my ass kicked I did was awesome. Will get some cars tuned and try get my skills back on par and hopefully have a decent race with the lot of you some time soon. Sorry for quitting today but i had to go buy a fairlady z. The RX7 doesnt cut it at daytona it seems. Or im mighty slow. and sorry if i hit any of you, i assure you it wasnt on purose.
