Hi guys
First of all I did a thorough search on this forum and on the internet and found some helpfull pages and forum entries. However all these tips did not work.

What I have:
Modem: Thomson Speedtough 510
Router: Netgear WGT624
PS3 connected through wireless + ethernet (tried both, nat did not change)

What I did:
I gave my ps3 a static IP and put it in the DMZ on the router = Nat3
I enabled all the GT5 + PS3 ports = Nat3
I disabled the whole router firewall = Nat3
Changed from wireless to ethernet connection = Nat3
Switched UpnP both on and off at the router and PS3 = Nat3
I connected my PS3 directly to the modem = Nat3
I called my ISP to make sure they don't block any ports = Nat3

At the moment I'm pretty desperate because a-spec is getting pretty boring so I want to start online, but I can't even open up a room for myself to practice without an error message that there are connection problems.

Please HELP

Have you tried turning Media Sharing off? It didn't help my Nat (it's 2), but it help me stay signed in 👍

Man when i first tried to get mine working right i had all sorts of problems.I tried everything and nothing worked at all until after weeks of trying i had an idea pop in my head.I was like "hey why don't i just try to put my modem into bridge mode".A few minutes later i ran the test and first try it worked.

Look up your modem to see how to bridge it.This worked for me.

I ran into the same problem. I tried port forwarding, DMZ, all the usual "fixes" and nothing helped. It turned out that my modem (Speedstream 4300) has a built in firewall and it was causing conflicts with my rounter. Even turning off the firewall in the modem and the router didn't help.

I finally found out that I needed to bridge my modem, this allows everything to be handled by the router. In my case all I had to do was bridge the modem and setup the router to handle the PPPoE connection and everything worked great. I'm not sure if I can give you specifics since I don't know if you have DSL, cable, or what and if your connection uses PPPoE. By the way, if you bridge your modem, you can connect it directly to the PS3 and set it up to handle the PPPoE connection and you will get NAT1.

Hey boshuter, I'm having a problem bridging my modem to my PS3. When I bridge it and connect through my laptop using my PPPOE credentials, it works ok, but when trying to do it on my PS3 the attempt to get an IP always times out. I'm wired on both.

This doesn't happen when using the router normally (no bridging) only when bridging it. Any ideas?

HI
sorry for the double posting or the second threat. I tried bridging the modem but couldn't really find an option for it in the modem setup. However thank you very much for another idea I can pursue.

I'm afraid I have no explanation for why it won't work connected directly to the PS3. It shouldn't be any different than having it connected to your laptop. I assume you setup the PPPoE connection in the PS3 correctly.

Try looking for help in the support section of your internet provider, or over on "dslreports.com", that's where I found out how to get mine working. I found 3 different methods for bridging my modem, the first two didn't work for me, once I found the correct method everything fell together. If you modem has a web interface to access all the settings, you can tell if it's bridged by trying to access the interface, a bridged modem will not be able to access it.

I understand, I'll keep trying... Thanks. :)

Look up your make and model of your modem on google.

Type in how to put "insert modem here" into bridge mode. You should find a link that will walk you step by step into how to bridge it.

So I just went through all of these steps and I finally fixed my nat 3. I tried the port forwarding and the DMZ and everything i could find, nothing worked. I should note that my internet setup uses 2 modems/routers, I think that creates a "double nat" connection which isn't good for the ps3.

I was trying to change the settings of the 2nd router only (linksys), then I checked into the other one, a motorola. It had a setting for public or private, and was set to private, so i set it to public and that got me a NAT 2 connection, Happy Dance.

I cant believe it was that easy after spending many hours tinkering with IP addresses and ports, and all I had to do was toggle a switch, sheesh.

This was litterally my last attempt at fixing it as I was pretty fed up with it, good ridance nat 3.

This is in fact the same as stadti's situation: The Thomson SpeedTouch 510 is not just a modem, it's also a router (even if you have the one LAN port version). Hence the need to bridge it.

Almost any DSL "modem" is actually a router. DSL is the WAN port, ethernet is the LAN port. I run into this all the time when businesses try to go Internet on the cheap with a DSL line and want to forward ports to their servers.

You must have DSL to be getting at Nat3. In April when I moved I got AT&T u-verse by accident and got NAT3 for the first time ever. Went through all these crazy steps to change my router settings to NAT2,None of which worked. Finally I just said F-It and switched over to Timewarner and without doing a thing went back to NAT 2 and that's with the router!

Who Is your ISP? Sometimes as with AT&T uverse it's not the router but the ISP. Be careful they are shady too as I call customer Service and they can't help but wanted to sell me some program for 19 bucks that they would walk me through setting up Nat2
