Do we unlock them later? i didnt spend 20k credits just to change the whole set of ratios, i want to modify them individually.

Same thing happened to me. I think you have to be a certain level before youre allowed to adjust them individually.

I believe only the race modified cars allow you to change them individually. That's a pretty weak feature, IMO. I think we are putting TO much faith in this leveling system for features we hope are in the game.

If that's correct, then there is also a level unlock, because I'm level 16 or so and my RM cars can only be adjusted for top speed.

This has been discussed loads, try searching next time..
To answer though, you cant change individual gears on any car.
That includes RMs (I RM'd my 69 Chevvy last night)

i like not having it, honestly what i do is go on SSR7 and drive top speed and adjust the trans till it dosent hit the RPM cut, then its just about perfect. and for slower tracks i will sometimes adjust it down but usually not.

only time i want to adjust ratios myself is when im replicating a certian car/trans setup

I think it is a feature that they have not perfected yet and will be available in an update at some point. If you look at the menu, each of the ratios has a little button by it so at some point we should be able to mod them. The help screen says it is not good for "beginners" to mess with this so I think that is a way for them to say "we haven't worked out all the kinks yet, but we will have it soon"

just my two cents

I think there are alot of upset fans out there awaiting a patch to fix this issue, imo, really PD??? it was in prologue.... WTF

The text when you buy it says you can adjust gears anytime after you buy it lol. This game is really weird sometimes. I was hoping it was unlocked at higher level (im 13) but I see it's not. I would have rather saved 20k, or only bought the 6 speed.

I'm with you. It looks all set up ready to be used. You just...can't.

Seems like a weird thing not to get working though, especially given that the slider tuning works. I can only assume that some horrible bug came up late in production and the only solution was to lock it off until they could find a fix.

This ratios issue is kind of bugging me too.... Even though the slider works alright I know I can get the cars to run better if I have control over all ratios!

At first I didn't mind not being able to set all the ratios (most of the setups in this game are a bit dumbed down) since I usually just set the final gear ratio to fit each track which you can do here. Nowadays though I've run into problems where some corners end up being between gears, like if you try to take it in 3rd you hit the limiter but in 4th you're too low on the revs. Here being able to set individual gears would really help.

Its absolutely needed as the game doesnt properly gear 1st gear on cars with a lot of HP. In many cars 1st gear should be capable of 70-100mph and that just insn't happening automatically. Look at some of your super super cars they get up to those speeds in 1st gear.

My guess is that some cars were able to perform much better than the specs of the engine would dictate, and would cause either some weird physics or just be borderline cheating to use online.
