Can't play GT4 in HD, on my HDTV?

Okay, so there's an option in GT4 in the options menu, under screen to select an HDTV output. I've selected, this, but it quickly transfers me back to normal after fifteen seconds.... I've somewhere about needing some sort of cable to make this work. Can anyone elaborate on this, and perhaps let me know where I can get one of these cables, and how much they might cost...thanks.

You'll be needing a Component Video Cable (so called because the video signal is split into leads carrying the Red component, Blue component and Green component separately. Available in all good games shops (and some rubbish ones too).

You'll also need to tell your PS2 to output to YPbPCr rather than RGB, in the PS2 browser menu.

You DO have an HDTV set, right? The cable hooks up to the PS2 at one end, the same place your current cable set connectes, and the other end goes to the set's component inputs, which will be a 3 connectors, one red, one green, and one blue (plus left and right audio.) If your set doesn't have component inputs, then it's tough t#####s, I'm afraid.

Electrons go in one end, are sorted into red electrons, blue electrons, green electrons, left electrons and right electrons, bezz it down the cable and come out of the other end.

As in, what do I hook it up to

PS2 and TV... If your TV is HD, it'll have component (or YPbPCr) inputs.

Another thing to remember is that GT4 pops between 1080i (for gameplay) & 480p (menus), so don't be surprised if the image jumps around abit sometimes.

Can't you just plug the Standard Definition cable into a VCR or something and THEN have something connecting from VCR to your HDTV? Aren't HDTVs basically improved graphic televisions nowadays?

The TV would be scaling up a lower definition picture. That's not as good as displaying a higher definition picture.

how much did the graphic improve, i got gt4 myself, but not a HD tv yet in my room. but friend next door got hdtv and gt4 aswell, and we play on it with standart cable....

Well I think it's a world of difference. Once you watch/play things in HD...it's pretty hard to go back. We plugged in the standard cables and the HD calbes and went back an forth many times showing people the difference, and it's quite substantial. I'm not sure a photo would do it justice though however.

Just to varify... there wasonly 1080i output in NTSC versions of GT4 wasnt there? i.e. not in PAL versions?
